What To Know

  • Tom Selleck will host, narrate, and executive produce a new documentary series on History Channel.
  • The 10-episode series is called Crime and Justice With Tom Selleck.
  • Selleck joins other stars like Kevin Bacon, Ted Danson, Dolph Lundgren, and Robin Roberts, who are also launching new documentary projects on the History Channel.

Tom Selleck is returning to crime TV — this time, on the History Channel. This marks the actor’s first TV new show since Blue Bloods ended in December 2024.

Selleck will host, narrate, and executive produce an upcoming History Channel documentary called Crime and Justice With Tom Selleck, a perfect fit for the Blue Bloods alum. Crime and Justice examines the true stories behind some of the most consequential crimes and investigations in American history over its 10 episodes.

The show comes from A+E Factual Studios for History Channel. A+E Global Media announced the series, among a list of equally star-studded others, during its 2026 virtual upfront presentation to advertisers on Wednesday, March 4.

Selleck is joined by Kevin Bacon, Ted Danson, Dolph Lundgren, and Robin Roberts as famous names bringing new documentaries to History this year. Here’s what’s to come from them:

  • History’s Strange Fortunes with Kevin Bacon (w.t.): [Series Greenlight] Hosted and executive produced by the acclaimed actor, the series explores some of the most unbelievable, yet true financial tales ever recorded.
  • Extraordinary Origins with Ted Danson (w.t.): [Series Greenlight] Hosted and executive produced by the award-winning actor, the series examines the stories behind some of history’s most significant innovations, inventions, and discoveries that helped shape the modern world.
  • History’s Greatest Machines with Dolph Lundgren: [Series Greenlight] Executive produced, hosted, and narrated by the internationally acclaimed action icon, who also has an academic background in chemical engineering, the series takes viewers on a thrilling journey through the gears, guts, and genius behind the machines that reshaped our world.
  • 102 Minutes Inside the Towers: [Documentary Greenlight] A new two-hour documentary, executive produced by Good Morning America co-anchor Robin Roberts, marking the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, the special offers a deeply immersive and unique perspective through firsthand accounts from those who were inside the Twin Towers.

Premiere dates will be announced at a later time.

Selleck starred as NYPD Police Commissioner Frank Reagan for 14 seasons of Blue Bloods. The show ended in December 2024, and Selleck was vocally unhappy about CBS’s decision. The Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg) spinoff, Boston Blue, welcomed Blue Bloods alums throughout Season 1. Star Sonequa Martin-Green has said that she’s hopeful Selleck will appear on the spinoff one day.

Well, I'm glad for Tom as a fellow Michigander and Tiger fan andcfan of Tom. This should be good. Would really love to see him play Teddy Roosevelt in a movie. I would love to see him make a prominent appearance on Donny Wahlburgs show, Boston Blue. So far we've seen Erin, Baez, and Pop. Would be nice to see Frank, Nikki, Jamie and Eddie. Pretty sure they've atready written off Danny Reagan's eldest son.

Love your Teddy Roosevelt idea !! I bet Tom would be excellent at it. I watched him in IKE on Memorial Day and really enjoyed it ! He’s a very talented actor to say the least.

Blue Bloods leaving the network was the worst move ever!! So many people watched that series and became "family" with the Reagans. I'm so glad to see a lot of the cast from Blue Bloods branch out into other shows and now it will be so good to see you, Tom, back on the screen. We will watch the History channel and your new endeavor. But we're still waiting for "Jesse's" return to Paradise!!

    Miss you Tom!

Only a very few times in our lifetime does one come across such an icon, ~paragon of virtue, & *All around great gentleman! Like Clint Eastwood, Charleston Heston, and several other famous movie stars! #Selleck, did many stellar parts: ~Quigley Down Under, all the ~Sackett episodes by Louis Lamont, etc!

I was just commenting to some relatives of mine about how many actors of (ahem!) a certain age now host reality TV shows. In addition to Lundgren, Danson, Bacon, & Selleck, as noted above, the following also are now playing host on TV:

Lawrence Fishburne, David Duchovny, William Shatner, Danny Trejo, Dan Aykroyd, and Henry Winkler. And I'm sure they might be others I haven't heard about.

As long as they enjoy what they do and have the vitality to do it’s cool. Right ?

Very much liked Blue Bloods and the writers should have kept going either way the show. I do not watch Boston Blue as it seems to be a copycat of Blue Bloods.

He could do a whole series on the shady dealings of Trump.
