Rod Stewart Praises King Charles for Putting Donald Trump ‘in His Place’ (VIDEO)
Music icon Rod Stewart just congratulated King Charles III for putting President Donald Trump “in his place” during a star-studded gala.
On Monday, May 11, the British monarch attended The King’s Trust’s 50th Anniversary Celebration, marking a major milestone of the charity (formerly The Prince’s Trust) he created in 1976. Those in attendance included celebrity guests like Stewart, Rita Ora, Craig David, and Anne-Marie.
As King Charles, 77, walked down the line of stars to greet them, the “Maggie May” singer, 81, praised him for how he handled himself during a recent state visit to the U.S. He and Queen Camilla, 79, just spent several days, from April 27 to 30, across the pond.
“May I say, well done in the Americas,” Stewart told the king in a video originally shared on X by the Daily Mail’s Rebecca English. “You were superb, absolutely superb. You put that little rat bag in his place.”
King Charles had no visible reaction to Stewart’s perceived diss on Trump, although others nearby seemed to laugh in response.

This isn’t the first time Stewart has publicly criticized Trump. In January, the rockstar took to Instagram to share his thoughts on the POTUS after Trump slammed British troops.
“I was born just after [World War II], and have great respect for our armed forces that fought and gave us our freedom,” he said in part. “So, it hurts me badly, deeply, when I read that the draft dodger Trump has criticized our troops in Afghanistan for not being on the front line.”
Stewart added, “We lost over 400 of our guys. Think of their parents. Think about it! And Trump calls ’em almost like cowards. It’s unbearable. So I’m calling on you, Prime Minister Starmer and Farage, please, make the draft dodger Trump apologize, please.”

In June 2025, Stewart acknowledged that he had once been close to the POTUS during an interview with the Radio Times.
“I’m not a great fan of Trump. I knew him very, very well. I used to go to his house,” he shared. “I live literally half a mile away… We’re both on the beach. I used to go to his Christmas parties. He’s always been a bit of a man’s man. I liked him for that. But he didn’t, as far as I’m concerned, treat women very well. But since he became President, he became another guy. Somebody I didn’t know.”
What do you think of Stewart’s recent remark about Trump?
