The Neighborhood

Mondays will be a lot less amusing after this domestic sitcom says its goodbyes after eight seasons, having shared a comedy block with Bob Hearts Abishola, the short-lived Poppa’s House, and, more recently, DMV, which signs off tonight (8:30/7:30c) after just one season. In the series finale, there’s cause for celebration with the double weddings of Calvin (Cedric the Entertainer) and Tina’s (Tichina Arnold) sons: Marty (Marcel Spears) marrying Courtney (Skye Townsend) and Malcolm (Sheaun McKinney) saying “I do” to Mercedes (Amber Stevens West). But will the Butlers’ neighbors, Dave (Max Greenfield), Gemma (Beth Behrs), and son Grover (Hank Greenspan), be leaving the neighborhood for good? (This fall, the comedy hour goes away when FBI and CIA each move up an hour, followed by the true-crime series Harlan Coben’s Final Twist.)

American Idol

The stars come out to coronate a new Idol in a three-hour extravaganza, which ends with Ryan Seacrest announcing which of the Top 3 — Keyla Richardson, Hannah Harper, or Jordan McCullough — received the most votes from America to be named their favorite from Season 24. They’ll be mentored in the finale by Alicia Keys, who’s performing solo and with the Top 3 to mark the 25th anniversary of her debut album. She’ll be joined by an all-star roster of musical guests, including Season 2 finalist Clay Aiken, Brad Paisley, En Vogue, Jason Mraz, Lee Ann Womack, Mötley Crüe, Nelly, Tori Kelly, Gin Blossoms, Season 20’s Cameron Whitcomb, and Shinedown.

The Late Show With Stephen Colbert

This is one late-night show that isn’t going away quietly. As The Late Show begins its final two weeks of shows before the network shutters the historic venue on May 21, some late-night TV history is made when Stephen Colbert welcomes his friendly rivals, all members of the so-called “Strike Force Five,” to the show, with appearances by ABC‘s Jimmy Kimmel, NBC‘s Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers, and HBO‘s John Oliver. During the Covid shutdown, the hosts created a popular podcast, “Strike Force Five,” as an effort to raise money for their out-of-work crews and to display their solidarity for one another. Also scheduled to appear: Broadway stars Bernadette Peters, Ben Platt, Annaleigh Ashford, Christopher Jackson, and Patrick Wilson in a special performance. It seems Broadway also won’t let The Late Show go without paying tribute.

Tucci in Italy

Actor Stanley Tucci, currently starring in The Devil Wears Prada 2, pursues his other passions — travel and food — in a new season of his culinary travelogue, exploring his ancestral roots in familiar and new regions of Italy. Among the stops: Le Marche, a first for Tucci, located along the Adriatic coast; Veneto, where the origins of tiramisu are a subject of debate; Naples, home of a once-forgotten vine grape; and the islands of Sardinia and Sicily. The entire season will be available for streaming Tuesday on Disney+ and Hulu.

Pop Culture Jeopardy!

New streamer, new format, same host. Saturday Night Live‘s Colin Jost returns to host a second season of the pop-culture-focused spinoff, moving from Prime Video to Netflix with a revised schedule, featuring episodes airing each weekday through June 5. Teams are now comprised of two people, rather than three, with winning teams able to continue up to a five-episode streak, and the nine teams with the longest streaks competing in the semifinals and finals. With the syndicated Jeopardy! still going strong, and ABC’s Celebrity Jeopardy! All Stars moving into the Semifinal round this week, it’s a reminder that trivia mania is anything but trivial.

FMC & FETV’s “Salute to Service” marathon continues this week to honor the men and women of the armed forces. John Wayne’s finest war movie, Sands of Iwo Jima (1949), airs May 15 on FMC. On May 17 at FETV, Gregory Peck refuses to give up flying dangerous bomber raids in Twelve O’Clock High (1949), and then on May 24, Clint Eastwood takes charge in the war/heist film Kelly’s Heroes (1970), about a ragtag group of soldiers attempting to steal a cache of Nazi gold. • Regular Show: The Lost Tapes (4/3c, Cartoon Network): Mordecai and Rigby are back for more surreal animated adventures in a special half-hour episode.
• DMV (8:30/7:30c, CBS): The workplace sitcom ends its run after one season, with an office celebration heralding change at the East Hollywood branch.
• BBQ Brawl (9/8c, Food Network): Brooke Williamson joins Bobby Flay and last season’s champ Maneet Chauhan as team captains in a new season of the savory BBQ competition. In the opener, a lucky pitmaster gets to choose their team captain after presenting their signature flavors in a bowl. Adrienne Cheatham, Rashad Jones, and Carson Kressley are the judges.
• FBI (9/8c, CBS): While the team pursues a terrorist organization responsible for the assassination of a corporate executive, OA (Zeeko Zaki) is temporarily reassigned after defying orders.
• Foul Play with Anthony Davis (9/8c, TBS): The host enlists Dude Perfect’s Cody Jones to help him prank Dallas Mavericks center Dereck Lively in a game-show spoof, then USC women’s basketball coach Lindsay Gottlieb and star player JuJu Watkins pull a fast one on their team, sending them to a fake meeting on a haunted floor.
• CIA (10/9c, CBS): The mystery of the mole within the agency has hovered over the freshman procedural all season, and they may be getting closer to an answer. New intel is discovered when Colin (Tom Ellis) enlists Bill (Nick Gehlfuss) and the team to search for his CIA mentor, who’s mysteriously gone off the grid.
• Natchez (10/9c, PBS): An Independent Lens documentary depicts cultural debates in the Mississippi town over how best to honor and represent its complicated antebellum history.

ON THE STREAM:

• The Great American Baking Show (streaming on The Roku Channel): Hosts Casey Wilson and Andrew Rannells welcome eight amateur bakers to a fourth season of the competition, with Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith judging the mouth-watering offerings.
• The Island (streaming on Acorn TV): A four-part Gaelic crime drama stars Sorcha Groundsell as Kat Crichton, a Family Liaison Officer who returns to her former home on a remote island in the Outer Hebrides to investigate the murder of a local tycoon’s wife. Also on Acorn: The Season 12 finale of The Brokenwood Mysteries.
