Peter Alexander shocked NBC viewers when he announced his surprise departure from Saturday Today on March 28. In his on-air message, Alexander said that he decided to leave his longtime home at NBC News to spend more time with his family and “challenge himself with something new.” On March 30, he announced that he was joining the team at MS NOW and would anchor a show weekdays at 11 a.m.

“I’ve been away from home more than 80 nights in the last seven months,” he admitted. “More than 200 Friday nights away from my family in the last seven years. So, in this limited window before my daughters lose interest in hanging out with me…I’m eager to carve out a better balance between my personal and professional lives.”
