More New ‘Beyond the Gates’ Characters! CBS Soap Is Adding Attorneys & a Trainer
Beyond the Gates, formerly referred to as The Gates, the new CBS daytime soap opera set to debut in 2025 on the eye network, is looking to cast a few more roles.
TV Insider has learned that the show is searching for performers to play three male characters, two of which are attorneys. The third is a fitness trainer. Beyond the Gates is casting:
“Tom” is a Latinx male in his late 20s. Tomas “Tom” Hernandez is an extremely handsome and supremely confident attorney. This is a contract role.
“Mike” is described as a white male in his 50s. He’s a high-powered law partner of “Joseph’s” – and also the best man at his wedding. However, Mike has now been accused of sexual impropriety in the workplace. This is a non-contract role.
“Luis” is a Hispanic/Latino male in his late 20s to early 40s. Luis is described as sexy, attractive, and drop-dead gorgeous. He’s a personal trainer at the Fairmont Estates Country Club. Luis has an eye on one of the married women in the gated community. He is charming, likable, and (of course!) extremely fit. The character of Luis is non-contract.
The casting call describes Beyond the Gates as a daytime soap opera that follows, according to a casting description, the Jacksons, an affluent Black family living in the prominent gated community of Fairmont Estates. The Jackson family is known as “Black Royalty” in the Maryland/Washington D.C. area and must navigate the trials and tribulations of a well-lived life.
Beyond the Gates has already announced that three familiar faces from daytime – Tamara Tunie (ex-Jessica Griffin, As the World Turns), Karla Mosley (ex-Maya Avant Forrester, Bold and the Beautiful), and Daphnee Duplaix (ex-Rachel Gannon, One Life to Live) – are part of the show’s cast. Tunie is playing the role of matriarch Anita Dupree. Mosley and Duplaix play, respectively, Anita’s daughters, Dani Dupree and Dr. Nicole Dupree Richardson.
Beyond the Gates is created by and executive produced by Daytime Emmy-winner Michele Val Jean, formerly of General Hospital, Santa Barbara, Generations, and B&B. She is the soap opera’s showrunner. Other executive producers include names familiar to soap fans – Bob Guza (GH; Sunset Beach) and Julie Hanan Carruthers (Port Charles, All My Children). The series is set to commence taping in Atlanta next month.
Beyond the Gates will be the first new daytime soap opera to hit the airwaves since the debut of Passions, which premiered on NBC in 1999 over 25 years ago. The new series will restore the daytime drama landscape to five soap operas – B&B (CBS), Days of our Lives (Peacock), GH (ABC), and Young and the Restless (CBS).
