Mina and Karen rebuilt over 20 homes before HGTV

They had been working on renovating homes for about seven years before getting a Facebook message from a talent scout at High Noon Entertainment. High Noon is the production company behind some other HGTV heavy hitters, including Fixer Upper and House Hunters, and gave the mother-daughter duo a chance with their own show called Good Bones. Mina has a lot to credit to Facebook because that’s also where she met her husband, Steve Hawk. They got married in 2016 and now have two kids named Jack and Charlotte.

Mina has been open about her struggles with infertility

After having her son, Mina admitted that she struggled with infertility and was given a less than one percent chance of having another baby. She went through IVF, and they were able to have a daughter. Mina opened up about the news on an episode of Good Bones. Now, Mina has admitted that she is not having any more children.

Mina and Karen had a store together before their infamous fall-out

They opened up a store called Two Chicks District Co. in Indianapolis in 2020. The store sold home decor and furnishings but recently announced that they are closing down the store by the end of 2023. The news came amid confirmation that the mother and daughter have not spoken in about a year. Mina also confirmed that she has not been close with other family members, including her brothers, Tad and William.

Before having her own kids, she took care of her niece

When her sister struggled, Mina stepped in and cared for her two-year-old niece, Julie, for about nine months. She said that the whole experience made her less cold as a person and prepared her for having children of her own.

She wrote a children’s book

In 2020, Mina somehow had time to write a book too! She wrote her first children’s book called Built Together, focusing on teaching children that families are all different, throwing in her construction experience there, too. Purchase the book on Amazon.

She’s had plastic surgery

Never afraid to open up with her fans, Mina announced that she was getting a tummy tuck after the birth of her daughter, Charlotte. While some fans criticized her social media decision, she said she was ultimately happy with the results. She wasn’t the only one in the family to undergo a procedure. Around the same time, her husband got a vasectomy. Later on, Mina revealed that she got a butt lift, liposuction, breast implants, and eyelid surgery called blepharoplasty. Blepharoplasty removes excess skin from the eyelids, and she shared that her dad and grandmother have had the same surgery.
