Which ‘Star Trek’ Faves Have Joined Voice Cast of ‘very Short Treks’?

If you enjoyed Star Trek: Short Treks — the anthology consisting of 10-20 minute shorts — and love animation, the newest addition to the franchise is for you.

Star Trek is celebrating the 50th anniversary of The Animated Series with the launch of Star Trek: very Short Treks, five new animated promotional shorts, as well as the new comic book, Star Trek: The Animated Celebration Presents The Scheimer Barrier, both debuting on Star Trek Day on Friday, September 8.

Star Trek: very Short Treks, from creative consultant Casper Kelly, is in the style of The Animated Series and will feature previously announced fan-favorite characters voiced by cast members from across the Star Trek universe, including icons Jonathan Frakes as Will Riker, Doug Jones as Saru, and Armin Shimerman as Quark, and a new line-up of voices, including Ethan Peck as Spock, Gates McFadden as Dr. Beverly Crusher, Celia Rose Gooding as Uhura, Connor Trinneer as Trip Tucker, Bruce Horak as Hemmer, Noël Wells as Tendi, and the legendary George Takei as Sulu. The first animated spot will launch on Star Trek Day on StarTrek.com and the official Star Trek YouTube channel. The other four will roll out weekly on Wednesdays through October 4 at 1/12c. The release schedule and titles are as follows:

September 8: “Skin a Cat”
September 13: “Holiday Party”
September 20: “Worst Contact”
September 27: “Holograms, All the Way Down”
October 4: “Walk, Don’t Run”

The 10 episodes of Star Trek: Short Treks were released between 2018 and 2020, with the first batch coming between the first and second seasons of Star Trek: Discovery (and included Mary Wiseman, Aldis Hodge, Jones, Michelle Yeoh, and Rainn Wilson) and the rest between the second season of Discovery and first of Picard (and included Anson Mount, Rebecca Romijn, and Peck ahead of Strange New Worlds).
