Selena Gomez Deletes Instagram Post After She’s Accused of Breaking SAG-AFTRA Strike Rules
Selena Gomez is under fire for seemingly promoting her Hulu series Only Murders in the Building in an Instagram post, which was deleted when several of her followers accused her of breaking the SAG-AFRTA rules.
The now-deleted post appeared to be a video from the comedy show’s set and had the official Instagram handle of the show tagged in it. The caption said, “Missing and wanting.” The post generated over 1.1 million likes in 15 hours before being deleted from Gomez’s account, according to Variety. SAG-AFTRA, as well as Gomez’s representatives, reportedly declined to comment on the matter.

SAG-AFTRA’s strike rules bar members from promoting work through media or social posts during a strike. Gomez didn’t talk in the set video or urge watching but tagged the show’s official account, implying it was from the Only Murders in the Building set. Whether this breaks the rules is debatable. Fans online accused her of scabbing, with one calling the post “tone deaf” during the strikes.
Only Murders in the Building stars Charles (Steve Martin), Oliver (Martin Short), and Mabel (Gomez), who are investigating a death behind the scenes of Oliver’s Broadway production. Mabel is a young artist with a knack for investigating murders in New York City, and Gomez has been a series regular since the beginning of the series.
The show’s third season began on August 8 and is expected to conclude on October 3 on Hulu.
Along with Steve Martin, Martin Short, Selena Gomez, Paul Rudd, and Meryl Streep, Season 3 features plenty of new characters and returning favorites played by Tina Fey, Jesse Williams, Ashley Park, Jackie Hoffman, Linda Emond, Matthew Broderick, Michael Cyril Creighton, and Da’Vine Joy Randolph to name a few.
