‘Jeopardy!’: Who Should Be the Permanent Host of the Show? (POLL)
Jeopardy! continues its alternating of hosting duties between interim guest Ken Jennings and primetime host Mayim Bialik.
And while this dynamic has been successful for the most part, more so than the parade of guest hosts who fronted the game show stage in 2021, there’s one big question that still remains: Who is going to be the permanent host?

Since longtime host and fan-favorite Alex Trebek died in late 2020, the question has lingered and was almost answered when former executive producer Mike Richards was initially given the gig, but it didn’t last long. Richards exited the show after previous comments he made on a podcast came under scrutiny.
And while Bialik was given the primetime gig back then, she’s been yo-yo-ing with Jennings as syndicated host for this past season. Last year, along with Jennings, Bialik, and Richards, Katie Couric, Dr. Mehmet Oz, Aaron Rodgers, Anderson Cooper, Bill Whitaker, Tournament of Champions vet Buzzy Cohen, Savannah Guthrie, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, George Stephanopoulos, Robin Roberts, LeVar Burton, David Faber, and Joe Buck all tried their hand at the gig.
Realizing the show needed some stability following Richards’ exit, Jeopardy! enlisted its GOAT Champion, Jennings and primetime host, but it can’t last forever. And that’s why we want to hear from you.

Ken Jennings and it's not even close. He's had the highest ratings, hosted the most episodes, and understands the game better than perhaps anybody else. If he quit The Chase only to be shafted by Jeopardy after spending his whole adult life being its greatest ambassador not named "Trebek", he should find work at a place where he is respected.

Ken should get the job, he is so much more qualified. We have been watching Jeopardy! for decades and love everything about Ken and nothing about Mayim. We are horrified by the thought that she could get the permanent job. We'll probably not tune in anymore. We already stopped watching the College Tournament because of her.

Agree that Ken should get the position. Mayim is so irritating. She acts like she is acting on stage rather than hosting a game show. She doesn't seem to dress appropriately for the position either. She is just wrong. She should go back to being a neuroscientist

In what way does she not "...dress appropriately "? I have to wonder if this is a male vs. female situation, and many of the fans prefer a male as it is what they are used to.
As for dressing, you put a man in a suit, and he is all set. Women wear pants, pants suits, dresses, skirts, suits with pants, suits with skirts...I have to think the program has a lot to say about her wardrobe. Furthermore, she is a Modern Orthodox Jew, so inappropriate here wouldn't mean "too much skin showing." The dress code, as it were, is arms covered to the elbow, skirts past the knee, and necklines high.

You don't have to be a contestant to be a host. I like Mayim during the College Tournament cause she was like a Teacher who gave you hints or encouragement if you got it wrong or didn't know.

Jeopardy’s obvious favoritism towards Bialik does not go unnoticed to the nightly viewer (“host of” vs “hosting”). If you’ve officially hired two hosts for the year, treat them equally! That being said, Jennings is the superior host between the two. I would have liked to see Buzzy Cohen get a shot, but if it’s been narrowed down to two, Ken should get the job.

I think Mayim Bialik is both charming and personable. She brings her enthusiasm to the show. Ken Jennings is perfectly competent, but he could easily be a robot. There is no enthusiasm or any hint of who he is. With Mayim, one can tell there is an actual person reading the questions.

Ken should be the 100% host of all the shows episodes. Why this split up with two hosts? It adds no real value.
Ken has been the shows greatest ambassador outside of Alex and Ken is just a class act. Ken is not an actor like Mayim, he’s just authentic, genuine and he is the GOAT!

But Ken Jennings makes the show flow like Alex Trebek did. Those of us that are long time fans of Jeopardy really appreciate the similarities to Alex, the knowledge, and professionalism that Ken Jennings brings to the podium, is really unsurpassed.

I think Ken Jennings is hands down the best host and second place would be Buzzy Cohen and third Bill Whittaker. I would not be apt to watch with Bailik as permanent host as she just doesn't have what it takes in the long haul. Its a uniquely great show that is always a learning experience so choose carefully if you want to keep your viewership strong.

Ken unfortunately does not have the luxury of a PR team to sway public opinion. As it stands right now, it seems that Mayim’s folks still haven’t taken ownership of this page or poll, and Ken is winning the poll by a ratio of 3-to-1 and the comment section by a landslide.

I cannot listen to Mayim’s voice—her vocal tone is annoying and her delivery sounds like she’s speaking to elementary students. So when she hosts, we mute and read the captions. Ken’s respect and love of Jeopardy is apparent and like Alex, he doesn’t make the show about himself. Far and above, Ken is my choice.

When Ken hosts I get a sense of "we are all in this together" in the way he encourages and understands the playing of the game. Good players seem to recover quicker after a wrong answer based on his understanding comments. I don't think it is the host's job to act like they are better than the players because they might know the answer when a contestant does not. I don't get that feeling at all when Ken is hosting.

What shows are you watching? Ken always acts like he's better than every contestant except the super players like Amy Schneider! You're buying into the hype about Ken -- he may be one of the best players, but that doesn't make him kind, nice or fair in his treatment and comments to the players -- he is encouraging to the best players, but he definitely throws shade and underhanded comments to the players who aren't winning! Watch him closer next time -- Alex never showed any favoritism to any contestants and was completely fair in his treatment of all players because he didn't have any prejudices -- he was a professional and a nice person, which Ken is not!

Ever since I saw Mayim's TV commercial ("I don't just play someone brainy on TV -- I'm an actual neuroscientist") I haven't been able to stomach her. And Ken has proven himself over and over.

I agree. I couldn’t watch the episode tonight because she was hosting. I know a lot of people would like Mayim as the host, but I am not a fan! I don’t think I’ll be able to watch Jeopardy anymore if she becomes the permanent host. It’s a shame because as a woman I’d love to see a woman host Jeopardy but I prefer Ken’s personality.

I have been watching Jeopardy since Art Fleming was the host. I feel the Ken Jennings in his own way continues the presence on stage the the previous hosts had. None of them are exactly the same but have the charisma for this format.

I'm concerned selecting Mayim would mean that the show as we know it is gone. If they pick her, it would suggest the executives are going for a broader audience with the formula of SO many other game shows - celebrity host, mildly challenging content and amped-up personal drama. Alex choice before he passed was Ken. Not sure why it has taken management so long to acknowledge this. I don’t care for Mayim and won’t watch when she hosts. I think if she is a permanent host, you’ll lose many viewers. Ken has the personality and charm to follow in Alex’s footsteps, while Mayim doesn’t flow easily.

It's going to take management forever to acknowledge that because it isn't factual. Trebek has talked in past interviews about possible future hosts should he step down, but none of those mentions included Jennings (or Bialkik). And unless you were sitting in on an intimate moment that the rest of us were not, Alex wasn't picking his own host successor in his final days.

I agree. In the beginning he was a little dry and awkward…maybe he was nervous. But I find him to be charming now. He cracks some cheesy jokes but he seems kind and genuine in his delivery. Bialik is far "too full of herself"...which is spectacularly off-putting. Jennings is clearly comfortable, relaxed, and at ease with himself and guests...Bialik comes across as arrogant, supercilious, and "above mere mortals.". There is not a single doubt that Ken would make a much better host. Ken is professional, very respectful of all contestants, and wrap up very cleverly after each interview with the contestant. Mayim is all about herself if she can find an opportunity to mention about her fame, she would not miss it during the interview. She is very inconsistent at the podium, sometimes it seems like she is in a good mood, sometime bad mood, sometime acting, sometime thoughts fleeting in her mind. I want to watch a game show where I can expect consistency and professional. I am all for Ken as a permanent host. I would always support a woman but sorry not Mayim.

I turn Jeopardy off whenever Bialik is hosting. Just can not stand that woman. Someday possible the so called producers will wake up and return Jeopardy to the way it was in the past...one host all the time. There’s just no contest (pun in tended), Ken is running circles around Mayim.
She did good in Big Bang, but she’s not a good enough actor to play a role for which she doesn’t have the background to support her.
Ken, on the other hand, doesn’t need to be a good actor because he’s the real thing (the best of all time), he does it with excellence and authenticity, all well balanced with a genuine sense of humor.
In our household we skipped the College Tournament in its entirety, because we knew nobody would enjoy Jeopardy after Alex without Ken.

Ken is the best host since Alex. He keeps the game moving and doesn't chime in too often with side comments. It may be sacrilege, but his banter with the contestants might even be a little better than Alex's. But yeah, Mayim is worse on all fronts and borderline unwatchable. We have tuned out during certain episodes she's hosted knowing that we can see the box score on the show's website.

Because Ken knows most of the answers it goes very smoothly. As is mentioned below, Mayim takes time to read the answers and there's a lag where we the listeners think that the answer is wrong. But basically it's a lot of fun when Ken is the host.

Without a doubt, Ken Jennings should be the permanent host. He is competent, smart, and really keeps the game moving along. He reminds me a lot of Alex and that really means something. He also puts the contestants at ease. A very likeable man! Mayim Bialik is an actress and it shows. Often she tries to draw the attention away from the contestants. Her constant giggling and mannerisms really irk me. As Alex always said, the show is about the contestants and the game, not the host. I would like to see the show go forward with the original format with the tournaments being held in the usual time slot. I have not watched one tournament with Mayim Bialik hosting and will sadly, stop watching the show if she is chosen.

I don’t understand why there is even a question. Ken Jennings is the one that shows the characteristics that we have become used to. He has the personality that meshes well with the contestants. He has a great sense of humor and doesn’t act uppity when giving the correct answer if the question is missed. Mayim Bialik acts so uppity. She acts like the contestants are dumb. She hasn’t improved at all over the last year and a half. Her sense of humor is nonexistent. Ken Jennings is the best candidate in my opinion.

If they choose Mayim over Ken for the daily syndicated show, I don't think I'll be watching regularly anymore. Watching Mayim host feels like I'm watching her "Call Me Kat" character host. I believe more and more that Ken Jennings is the more qualified of the bunch so far struggling to get the assignments.
It is also evident that the neuro scientist is not cut for this job… she struggles to be liked, twists and shakes like willow to show her ability to command the show.
The sad story is that the producer is NOT listening to the fans that keep voting overwhelmingly for Jennings.
And now with Davis being permanently assigned as producer…. The scientist will keep shacking and jerking with that forced smile for long time.
It’s now the third week that I watch cartoons instead of jeopardy…. I found them more entertaining….

There is only one person that should host Jeopardy hands down Ken Jennings he knows the game, he knows the answers and elaborate on the answer, conducts himself and presents himself professionally. He is not overboard dancing around the stage with a great big smile on his face saying look at me. He does not making continuous nervous body movements when he talks like Mayim Bialik that distracts from the show. Bialik made well known she should be the host and best qualified to host the show as one knows there is more to being a host than a comedian. She wants the position for all the wrong reasons and her personality takes away from the show. She is a nice person and is very good in sitcom series and that is where she shines best. Lets remember how Alex Trebek conducted and presented himself calm professional knew the game and showed his love for the game. He also showed his excitement for the game when there was a tight game among the contestants. Only a person that has full understanding and appreciation of the game can express these emotions. Mr. Jennings demonstrate the same qualities as Mr. Trebek with the calming voice and ends the show with nod of his head showing his appreciation for the viewers watching the show and for the honour of hosting Jeopardy. A gentlemam.

When Bialik is considered, I wonder what political affiliation the broadcasting company has, to choose a vocal antivaxxer, who now swears her family has been Covid vaxxed, when she didn't have her children innoculated for childhood diseases. This is not the right message for the world.
The claim of being a neuroscientist, is proof book smarts is not proof of common sense. She is on stage, playing the part of the host of Jeopardy. The people who have been entrusted to move the game show forward are not respecting the legacy of Alex Trebek. Perhaps it should have passed with him. I used to record daily, new or rerun. I don't anymore. I drop in on Monday and see who's there. If Bialek is there, I move on.

They both deserve praise for hosting , but how can you not have the "greatest of all time" host that show . He is probably the only one that as a host , actually knows the answers ! He has loosened up and has the right sense of humor (somewhat like Alex's) and the assured demeanor when needed . Mayim is a great in a backup role . I wouldn't object to that or some specials , but not the "big ones" Keep Ken on that show as permanent host .

It's not as much fun with Mayim because there are inappropriate pauses before she says whether an answer is right or wrong and one wonders if this will get better with practice. I don't know if actually "knowing" a lot of answers helps but Ken is quicker and keeps pace a lot better. Hope it's Ken.

Ken Jennings enunciation is more clipped and quick, so much so that this nostrils flare. Mayim's enunciation is clearer and calming. She is also much more personable. I got tired of witnessing Ken's fawning of Amy Schneider and Matt Amodio when introducing them every show. I can only imagine how the other contestants felt.

Mayim Bialik is by far my preferred host. She is pleasant, literate, engaging, reminiscent of Alex Trebec. I have thoroughly enjoyed Jeopardy when she hosts. I find Ken Jennings to be supercilious, condescending, and wooden. He exhibits no pleasing personal engagement. While I rarely miss the show when Ms Bialik hosts, I rarely watch when Mr. Jennings hosts as his pomposity undermines, destroys the long delightful Jeopardy of Mr. Trebek’s sterling legacy.

As the mother of an adult disabled daughter in a wheelchair, I want to remind people of the cruel and unprofessional remark he made about wheelchair bound people! My husband and I would love to see Mayim get the job as Jeopardy's new full time Host.
She's attractive, has a cute personality, her expressions are engaging and by far has the best personality for the job. We also think she can relate to the younger generation and draw them in to watching the show.
She puts a more modern touch to the show.
Ken is a more serious type of host. We feel his comments are sometimes insulting to the contestants in his way of trying to be cute.. he's not.
And, being the 'know it all' we also see that same behavior from him on the Chase.
We don't think Ken should get the job just because he is the Champ of Champions.

I think that Ken is a conceited nerd with a personality so awkward and pretentious that is not at all in the spirit of Alex Trebek and puts contestants down with comments like "sounds like a guess" when that is irrelevant if they answer correctly. No one knows all the answers, not even Ken, and to put someone down for making an educated guess makes him an intellectual bully in my opinion! He fawns all over the super players like Amy Schneider but doesn't give any encouragement to the players who aren't quite as quick to try to get in responses ahead of the super-players, thereby destroying their confidence and ensuring that they don't pose a threat to the champion. Mayim is fair and courteous to all players and sincerely tries to put them at ease. She never talks condescendingly to them like Ken does. So what if she hesitates a bit sometimes? It doesn't hurt anything or change the outcome! If she was given the hosting job (which seems unlikely, given that Ken Jennings is now one of the show's producers and has spread his vitriolic criticisms/shade of Mayim throughout the internet), I'm sure she would become more polished and confident after more Jeopardy hosting experience. I would much rather watch an intelligent, considerate and amiable host like Mayim than conceited, arrogant Ken with no discernable rapport with viewers or contestants. I think Alex would agree! Jeopardy is supposed to be welcoming to all players, not just the quickest human encyclopedias.

Ken has emulated Alex from day one with the way he holds his hands, his gestures, and his commentary. He is NOT Alex! He should not try to be anyone but himself. Neither. Bialik was terrible as a guest host, constantly giggling, though she has definitely reined that in during this past season. She's still mediocre. I can't stand Ken Jennings' voice. Sanjay Gupta was the best of the guest hosts last season.

I honestly think it was made this way by design. Producers get to cash in on this long drawn-out process for another year. I think their original plan was probably to choose Mayim until her schedule cleared up, but now Ken has hosted so often and garnered so much fan support that they've backed themselves into a corner. It will be interesting to see how they proceed.

I like both of them why can't they both be the host and alternate them on different shows? It seems a shame Ken really has had the spotlight because he's fought for it for so long but seeing what a great job Mayim has done I really like her too!

What both are missing is a good broadcaster's voice. Jennings is grating and Bialik is overly animated and too loud. Both hype the competitive aspect of the game too much. But Jennings has such a quick wit and such a reverential love for the game, he has won me over. Complaints I have are that he is clearly disdainful of some answers or lack of answers from contestants and he always seems to insert himself and his ego and remind people of who he is. --------Should've come to Canada to look for someone!

Beth grammar and usage are appalling! I wrote Jeopardy and received no reply Yet every “that’s him” Or it’s them” drives me crazy! Been watching since Art Fleming when I was a child. A blow dry and attempt t new clothes doesn’t change her wooden manner. She just reAds her cues I watch Jeopardy nightly, but if Mayim Bialik continues, I may be an ex-watcher

My vote goes to Bialik. She brings a fresh enthusiasm to the show. She exhibits really good stage presence and I just like her. We could look the world over and not ever truly replace the great Alex Trebek.

What keeps us watching are the Matts and Amys.. Because it really doesn't matter whether it's Ken or Mayam. Let the search begin.

Take time to unconditionally listen to her and you will hear she deserves the job of Jeopardy host as much as Ken does. She is just as qualified (resume). I’d like it to be Mayim. She was sti at first but had become more comfortable and now adds her own personality and a little pep to the show which I see a lack of in other hosts, including Ken. She adds a natural camaraderie.

You realize that Jeopardy is and always has been aimed at the more intelligent viewership, right? Those in search of less challenging shows tune in to America Says, People Puzzler, 25 Words or Less etc. Broader academic knowledge is required for Jeopardy. And it's about the game, not about the host's close up, a fact that is apparently lost on Ms. Bialik.

Ken Jennings is dull boring, need a breath of fresh air with Mayim Bialik, she's a happier camper, it's past time for a woman to secure a major network game show hosting position, Ken needs to work on his happy face on camera, Mayim Bialik seems like a more positive happy personality for Jeopardy, just quit dragging it out and pick Mayim Bialik as the on going permanent host of Jeopardy,. I know so many of you like Ken Jennings, but it's time for a different spin on the show with Mayim Bialik, not just another person to imitate Alex Trebek, no one can fill his shoes, Ken Jennings is no Alex Trebek, he's dull boring unfriendly to the TV audience. Rarely smiles for the camera.

I think most of you are just used to a man having the hosting spot and aren't really giving Mayim a fair chance. Just because Ken has a connection to Jeopardy doesn't make him the ideal host. I saw something on this the other day where someone was saying that she didn't need the job because of all the money she has. I highly doubt Ken is poor after winning over $1 million on Jeopardy and being a chaser on the show the Chase for 2 seasons. Just because Mayim does it a little different doesn't make her bad for the show. By the way, Ken's jokes are usually a bit lame & not so funny.

I've watched Jeopardy since 1960s. Original viewer here. Had to watch as a kid. It stuck. I REFUSE to watch Ken as host. He's made disparaging comments about people in wheelchairs. My dad had MS and was a quad for 15 years. Enough said but add he has zero personality and I don't like what he does with his hands. I listen to intro now,, And now, from the Alex Trebek studios...and then I change the channel. This is tough for me.

Personally think that Ken Jennings is a cheater Who feels threatened when someone is on a hot streak and is a potential threat to his Winning streak record As with Amy Snyder's final jeopardy bet when he influenced her competitor to make a larger bet therefore causing Amy's streak to prematurely come to an end.

If Johnny Gilbert announcing her as ‘host of jeopardy’ means that she is now permanent, jeopardy just lost four viewers (all of us) in this household of “former” faithful watchers!
We record all the episodes we cannot watch live, and then erase all of those with Bialik’s name in the info, so we’re not gonna start changing that now!

Wow, I am clearly in the minority here but to me Mayim is the better choice. Ken has done a good job but he is so full of himself and that makes him a tough watch. Mayim brings a fresh approach to the show and after all the decades of the great Art Fleming and the even greater Alex Trebek, this jewel of a game show is really in need of a female voice and presence and Mayim -- in spite of her quirky fashion style -- definitely brings that to the show.
Mayim all the way but I have no problem with them continuing to share the role.

I agree. Ken repeats every answer. He adds more to it. He just loves to hear himself. When he is the host, more clues are left on the board. It’s because he is wasting time talking too much. He clearly has his followers on this poll and in these comments. He also rules the contestant wrong very fast. In Jeopardy there is the chance to correct your answer but not when Ken is the host. He also is reluctant to accept an answer if it isn’t the one planned for the clue. He stumbles on the alternate yet correct response. He is condescending in his manner. His introduction every game is tedious and keeps my mute button in constant use.

It's about time a WOMAN hosted Jeopardy. Ken Jennings has been making the rounds on a few other game shows for the past few years; he does not impress me. One show in particular, The Chase, has him sitting in a chair by himself atop this money ladder - is this supposed to be in exaltation as the contestants have to look up to him? If Ken Jennings becomes the permanent host, I, despite being a very long-term watcher, will stop watching Jeopardy. There's something lacking in his presentation and timing. He tries hard, and he has gotten better, but most of what is said below just is not true. I find it insulting the way he tells contestants they are wrong. He just doesn't do it for me. Either choose Mayim or give David Faber another try--he was great, and just did not get the coverage to prove himself.

It seems you don't understand the point of the show. Match Game is played for laughs and entertainment. Jeopardy is geared toward a more erudite demographic. Ken is more professorial whereas Mayim is more pre-school teacher.

Yes, let us keep perpetuating the white man's world. Ken Jennings is trying to be nothing but a clone of Alex Trebek, and he is failing badly. He is less educated than Mayim and has no acting experience. Mayim has a doctorate degree, is of Jewish heritage, is a female, has had extensive acting experience and has a delightful sense of humor. Why not put a new spin on an old show and bring in a fresh new host instead of a person who is trying to mimic Alex Trebek and doing a poor job at it.

Mayim has my vote. She is better connections to contestants when ahe introduced them. Her response to the the contestants commenta are genuine and quick. Ken seems disconnected when he talked to the contestants and rushed to finish.
Mayim brings fresh and cheerfulness to the show. She is confident, and we need more people to recognize that women can be confident and intelligent. She is a role model to the next generation.

This is merit based, not a quota system. We have much better examples of female game show hosts, notably Brooke Burns and Sara Haines. MB doesn't come close, and the irritation she triggers interferes with the viewer's concentration on the game.

Mayim has millions of followers. So beware when you read some of the articles because they are clickbait and not based in reality. Mayim has been targeted online as was Alex Trebek. Our house has watches Jeopardy for as long as I can remember. Our 30 year old son grew up watching it and even tried out for it several times while he was in college. We have always loved it. But we do no and will never eat Ken Jennings as host. He has no personality and in our humble opinion the show is nothing with him as host.
