‘Outlander’: Sophie Skelton, Richard Rankin & More Tease Season 6 Twists and Turns (VIDEO)

Outlander is back and Season 6 is already stirring up drama with the arrival of the Christies, but there are still plenty of twists and turns ahead for the regular inhabitants of Fraser’s Ridge.

Getting together with TV Guide Magazine and TV Insider’s Kate Hahn, stars Sophie Skelton, Richard Rankin, César Domboy, and Lauren Lyle are chatting all things Outlander in a special video interview, above. Together, they preview how Season 6 is going to turn any semblance of ease on its head.

And while Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) are coping with her PTSD and his long-simmering tensions with Tom Christie (Mark Lewis Jones), their daughter Brianna and son-in-law Roger are leading a relatively lighter path.

While Skelton promises there will be some turbulence ahead, the actress says, “I do think that this is actually the first season where we don’t really have Brianna and Roger at the center of the crumbling, they are very much the rocks in this season,” hinting at their solid-state in Season 6. “They are the calm in the chaos.”

Meanwhile, Roger is taking on new responsibilities at the Ridge as Rankin comments on his character’s incoming role. “So, we see Roger trying his hand at being a minister this year, he kind of falls into that though almost by necessity.” How that will play out will remain to be seen.

Things aren’t as easygoing for Domboy and Lyle’s Fergus and Marsali though, as their confidence wanes and fears lead to bad habits and bickering. “It’s a lot darker,” Lyle acknowledges of her character’s outlook. “She’s not coping and we’ve never seen her do that before,” the actress adds, referring to Marsali’s attack by Lionel in Season 5.

Despite the mental anguish that the attack has within Marsali and Fergus’s relationship, Lyle says when it comes to “killing Lionel, there are no regrets.” But Domboy notes “it’s actually a trauma for Fergus.” Find out what he means by checking out the full interview, above, and stay tuned for more as Outlander Season 6 continues its run on Starz.
