‘Ted Lasso’ Star Brett Goldstein Meets Oscar The Grouch on ‘Sesame Street’ (VIDEO)
Brett Goldstein found his “kindred spirit” when he met with Oscar the Grouch in a newly released teaser for an upcoming episode of Sesame Street.
The Ted Lasso star, who plays the perpetually angry and irritable Roy Kent in the popular sports-comedy series, is set to guest on the long-running children’s television program later this year. Goldstein appears as himself on the show, but his meeting with Oscar and interactions with Big Bird certainly bring out some Roy-like tendencies.
In the clip, we see Goldstein seated in a trash can next to Oscar as Big Bird strolls by, remarking on what a beautiful day it is. Goldstein then turns to his misanthropic friend in disgust and lets out an exasperated growl.

“I met a kindred spirit the other day,” the Emmy-winning actor wrote on Twitter alongside the teaser. “I told him we had a lot in common. He told me to scram.”
Goldstein shared more thoughts and photos on his Instagram page, noting that his time on the beloved kid’s show was “the best day of his life.” He added, “I finally found my way to Sesame Street and it was more wonderful than I could have imagined. Everyone was so funny and brilliant and friendly and kind.”
He continued, “I managed to get to say hi to all the residents except Snuffleupagus who was sleeping (although I saw him sleeping and he snores less than you’d think.) Truly a beautiful cast and crew that fill that whole street with all the love you could wish for. Special thanks to Elmo and Grover and Big Bird and Oscar and Cookie Monster, sorry if I scared you.”

Goldstein is a self-confessed Jim Henson superfan and has made it known in the past that it was his dream to star alongside the Muppets. Speaking to Esquire in 2020, he revealed, “That’s my ultimate goal, is work with the Muppets. I do that, then I’m dead.”
Ted Lasso is set to return for its third season later this year, though on a later schedule than Seasons 1 and 2 due to production delays.
