4 Burning Questions for ‘Yellowstone’ Season 5

TV’s top-rated cable show, Paramount Network’s Yellowstone, will be back for Season 5, which should come as no surprise. It averaged 14 million viewers in Season 4, with 15 million seeing the finale in which badass Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) blackmailed adoptive bro/lawyer Jamie (Wes Bentley) into shooting his biological dad, Garrett Randall (Will Patton), who’d ordered a hit on the Duttons.

That bit of frontier justice left us with some burning questions.

How will Beth use her power over Jamie?

Beth owns Jamie after she snapped a pic of him dumping Garrett’s body. Plus, she’s threatened to tell lifelong love/new husband/ranch boss Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser), who got her pregnant as a teen, that Jamie took her to get an abortion and failed to reveal that the clinic would also sterilize her. She must have bigger plans than forcing Jamie to babysit troubled kid Carter (Finn Little), whom she’s taken under her wing.

Will Beth go to the big house (and no—we don’t mean Yellowstone Ranch’s log mansion)?

CEO Caroline Warner (Jacki Weaver) promised to put Beth in an orange jumpsuit for committing corporate espionage against Market Equities. The only way we’d want to see Beth locked up is if she’s cellmates with her dad John’s squeeze, jailed activist Summer (Piper Perabo, who we hope returns next season).

Can patriarch John Dutton run for governor and keep all the family secrets?

John (Kevin Costner) is a confident guy, but campaign exposure could prove costly. This family tends to kill its enemies and dump their bodies at a roadside site nicknamed “the train station.” John’s top employees are literally branded with the company’s logo, and his most recent backroom deal (of many!) was to get Summer’s jail sentence reduced.

What did golden boy Kayce Dutton mean when he said “I saw the end of us” in his vision quest?

The most obvious answer is divorce from his wife, Monica (Kelsey Asbille). But Kayce (Luke Grimes) showed no inclination to stray even when former Yellowstone ranch hand Avery (Tanaya Beatty) returned and confessed she was in love with him. Maybe he saw the Dutton family downfall. In Season 5, anything could happen!
