Shameless Renewed for Season 7

TV Insider Coverage of Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour 2016Less than a week after the sixth season of Shameless kicked off, Showtime has ordered Season 7.

"Shameless has clearly resonated with audiences as evidenced by their steady growth on Sunday nights over the past 6 years," said Gary Levine, President of Programming, Showtime Networks Inc., in a statement. "We are extremely pleased with the creative work being done by John Wells, Nancy Pimental and the entire cast, producers and writers—and we so appreciate Shameless’ clear and distinctive voice."

The long-running series—which stars William H. Macy and Emmy Rossum—will start production on the 12-episode seventh season later this year.

Shameless airs Sundays at 9/8c on Showtime.
