John Fitzgerald Kennedy Jr. was born on November 25, 1960 in Washington D.C. As the son of Jacqueline Kennedy and US President John F. Kennedy, JFK Jr. grew up in the national spotlight, captivating the world at three years old saluting his father's flag-draped casket following his tragic assassination.
JFK Jr. went on to attend Brown University and later earned his Juris Doctor at the New York University School of Law. He took three tries to pass the New York bar exam in 1990 and became an assistant district attorney in Manhattan.
Through college, he enjoyed acting in several plays and eventually appeared on television for an episode of "Murphy Brown" (CBS, 1988-98). As an often interviewed and photographed staple of the New York social scene, Kennedy founded the politics-as-lifestyle magazine, "George" in 1995 and saw success as a publisher.
In 1998, he earned his pilot's license and purchased a small plane. John F. Kennedy Jr.'s life was cut short when his plane crashed off the coast of Martha's Vineyard on July 16, 1999. He was 38 years old.
