Gregg Sulkin

Gregg Sulkin followed a long line of talented British actors who achieved the same amount of fame and success in Hollywood as they did in their homeland. He first gained prominence in his native country by acting alongside critically lauded actors such as Keira Knightley and Helena Bonham Carter on television and in feature films. Sulkin landed a plum role on the comedy "As the Bell Rings" (Disney Channel UK, 2007-08), which put him on the map as one of the network's rising teen stars. He further established his heartthrob status stateside by playing a teen werewolf and Selena Gomez's love interest on the Emmy Award-winning series, "Wizards of Waverly Place" (Disney Channel, 2007-11), a role that exhibited the actor's versatility and true star potential.

Gregg Sulkin was born on May 29, 1992 in London, England. He attended high school in North London prior to making his acting debut on the miniseries "Doctor Zhivago" (ITV, 2002) opposite Keira Knightley and Sam Neill. Sulkin landed his first lead role in the 2006 feature film "Sixty Six," in which the young star played a boy whose long awaited bar mitzvah coincided with the final match of the 1966 World Cup. Acclaimed British actors Helena Bonham Carter and Eddie Marsan played Sulkin's parents in the coming-of-age comedy. "Sixty Six" received mixed reviews, but one of the film's fans was celebrated critic Roger Ebert, who praised the young actor's performance.

Teen audiences first fell in love with Sulkin when he was cast on the British version of "As the Bell Rings." The hit series, adapted from the Italian show "Quelli dell'intervallo" (Disney Channel Italy, 2005-09), was made up of short comedy sequences that aired in between the Disney Channel's regular programming. "As the Bell Rings" featured students at a fictional high school who discuss relationships, family, and their classes while passing each other in the school's hallway. Sulkin played an indie rock-loving and hopelessly romantic teen who has his eyes on the most popular girl in school (Lara Hendrickse). A similar version of "As the Bell Rings" was created for the U.S. that same year and would star Demi Lovato.

In 2010, Sulkin's popularity soared stateside with a guest appearance on the award-winning comedy series, "Wizards of Waverly Place." The British star charmed teens - and lead character Alex Russo (Selena Gomez) - with his portrayal of Mason Greyback, an art-loving high school student and Alex's love interest who has the ability to transform into a werewolf. His shape-shifting character returned for a few more guest appearances on "Wizards of Waverly Place" before he was announced as a main character in Season four. That same year, Sulkin landed the lead role in the Disney Channel Original Movie, "Avalon High." The made-for-TV film, based on the 2006 Meg Cabot young adult novel, was a modern day adaptation of the legendary King Arthur story and Sulkin's character of Will Wagner was inspired by the classic medieval hero.
