[Warning: The below contains MAJOR spoilers for the Season 3 finale of The Resident, “Burn It All Down.”]

The Resident ended its third season with 20 episodes (instead of the originally planned 23), and while it hasn’t been renewed yet, showrunner Todd Harthan says they’re “all feeling very confident” it will be.

“I think we’re in really good shape to continue on,” he told TV Insider.

And so we’re looking ahead to that potential fourth season and what the finale set up. Red Rock seems to have a new plan in mind, one involving Conrad (Matt Czuchry), while Cain (Morris Chestnut) might be on a new path. Plus, two couples are in a great position to provide a bit of happiness for the Chastain family.

The Resident Season 3 Finale Conrad Logan Offer Red Rock Face
Fox

Will Conrad accept Logan's offer?

At the end of the finale, Logan was already looking to Red Rock’s future — and that no longer includes Cain. Now, he wants Conrad to be their rainmaker, and the doctor was left with a decision to make. Will he accept and use his new position as an advantage to take down Red Rock? Or will he refuse to do anything that means being part of the system again? (He told his father he’d had to do just that when he didn’t tell his patients about the superbug.)

The Resident Season 3 Nic Conrad Proposal Episode 16 Engaged Wedding Details
Guy D'Alema/FOX

What will Conrad and Nic's wedding be like?

They’re one of the most stable couples on television, and after their unique proposal — she suggested they get married for logical reasons, while he made sure the moment was perfect and romantic — we can’t wait to see what their wedding is like. But we do know to expect the unexpected, so chances are it won’t be some elaborate event that goes off without a hitch.

Will Logan and Red Rock turn on Cain?

The divide between Logan and Cain became clearer and clearer in the last couple episodes, and by the end of the finale, those ties were all but severed. Could Red Rock decide to wash its hands of Cain completely, or might that depend on Conrad’s answer to Logan’s offer? If Cain once again commits to Red Rock, perhaps to keep his past mistakes secret, we could once again see them be a united front against Chastain.

Shaunette Renée Wilson and Malcolm-Jamal Warner in the 'Reverse Cinderella' episode of The Resident

Will AJ and Mina ever cross that line from mentor/mentee to romance?

It was teased on their road trip, but so far, the two have managed to stay professional, the right move due to their positions at Chastain. However, can that continue forever, or might something give, even if it’s just for a moment?

The Resident Season 3 Will Cain Be Redeemed
Guy D'Alema/FOX

Will Cain be redeemed?

Cain disagreed with Logan about how the superbug at Chastain was handled; he wanted to go to the state health board. And after his experiences in the last few episodes — the superbug, what happened to Derek, and losing his ex-girlfriend on the operating table — could we see him turn over a new leaf? Might he be able to help the staff of Chastain get rid of Red Rock once and for all?

The Resident Season 3 Irving Jessica Engaged
Guy D'Alema/FOX

Will Feldman and Jessica get married?

Everyone may have been talking about Conrad and Nic’s engagement, but the same episode began with Feldman’s public proposal to Jessica at the hospital. Could there be two weddings in Season 4?

The Resident Season 3 Finale Bell Kit Fight Red Rock
Guy D'Alema/FOX

How will the staff continue to unite to fight back against Red Rock?

We know that the staff at Chastain wants Red Rock gone — and Kit is at the top of that list, considering that her son-in-law nearly died because of the Candida auris cover-up. Will she be leading the charge?

The Resident Season 4 New Threat
Guy D'Alema/FOX

What will the next big threat be?

Red Rock can’t be around forever, and we do have to take into account that Season 3 was supposed to have 23 episodes and ended with 20. It’s hard to imagine a new problem not arising at some point during the fourth season.
