American Horror Story: Apocalypse

Despite their series’ ominous title, the ladies of American Horror Story: Apocalypse (September 12, 10/9c, FX) “have a lot of fun,” says Kathy Bates with costars Sarah Paulson, Leslie Grossman, Adina Porter, Emma Roberts and Billie Lourd. Expect franchise vet Jessica Lange and other special guests on this Murder House/Coven crossover season. Jokes Paulson, “It’s like The Love Boat.”

Alexander Skarsgård

The Little Drummer Girl

Alexander Skarsgård confessed to wearing a shirt lifted from the ’70s-era “jet-setter, peacocking” wardrobe he sports in The Little Drummer Girl, a six-part espionage thriller coming to AMC in November. Skarsgård’s Israeli spy Becker goes undercover and recruits Charlie (Florence Pugh), a passionate actress. “But are they falling in love?” Skarsgård says. “It blurs the line between what’s real and what’s not.”

Ozark -Julia Garner, Jason Bateman and Laura Linney

Ozark

Byrdes of a feather! This money-laundering crew will be feeling the heat (from the feds, and worse) in the drama’s Season 2 (August 31, Netflix). According to Jason Bateman (with costars Julia Garner and Laura Linney), the closeness of the cast comes in handy: “We all get along so well that you can take the gloves off.”

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend - Rachel Bloom

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend

She’s been up, she’s been down! Last season, heroine Rebecca Bunch (Rachel Bloom) was singing the blues on The CW’s musical as she battled depression. Will things end on a high note during the series’ upcoming fourth and final installment (premiering October 12, 9/8c, The CW)? Says Bloom, “I just don’t believe in happy endings that gloss over how complicated life is.” We’ll take that as a maybe!

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel - Rachel Brosnahan

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel

The Amazon dramedy’s first season ended with ’50s ex-housewife Midge Maisel (Rachel Brosnahan) finding success in her fledgling career as a stand-up comic. But the triumph may be short-lived in Season 2, now filming. “Good things can’t last long,” the Emmy nominee warns. As for whether Brosnahan would ever step up to the mic herself, “I can’t imagine anything braver — and I am not that brave!”

One Day At A Time - Rita Moreno

One Day at a Time

At 86, Rita Moreno just received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Television Critics Association. And she’s showing no signs of slowing down, as evidenced by her saucy grandma alter ego on Netflix’s sitcom reboot, renewed for a third season. “I’m a dirty old lady just like Lydia,” says Moreno. “Where do you think they got all that stuff?”

Proven Innocent - Kelsey Grammer

Proven Innocent

Kelsey Grammer’s next destination: the Fox midseason drama Proven Innocent, about a criminal defense team in Chicago trying to exonerate the falsely convicted. Grammer plays Gore Bellows, a corrupt DA looking to block their crusade. “For every person who is finally proven innocent,” he says, “it means that somebody who did the murder has gotten away.”
