‘Sheriff Country’ Premiere: What Mickey’s Dealing With When Season 2 Begins

Sheriff Mickey Fox (Morena Baccarin) is going to be busy when Sheriff Country returns in the fall.

CBS has released the description and photo from the Season 2 premiere, and these preview pieces not only tease what’s next with her mom, the DEA’s Eva Santos (Rachel Ticotin), but they also reveal what else is going on in her life. As previously announced, Baccarin’s real-life husband Ben McKenzie will guest star; the two previously starred together on Gotham.

Now, in “Cyclone,” airing Friday, October 9, “As Sheriff Mickey Fox struggles to process a shocking revelation about her family, she races to save a troubled young woman whose descent into a dangerous criminal operation uncovers a growing threat to all of Edgewater. Ben McKenzie guest stars as Sheriff Wade, a neighboring Sheriff who is called in to assist Sheriff Mickey, and has a few secrets of his own.”

The Season 1 finale saw Mickey work with Santos and Boone (Matt Lauria) to take down her love interest, the dirty DEA agent Alec (Wes Chatham). After that, Santos tried to recruit Mickey to help take down a Bulgarian cartel, but it came with a couple of twists. Not only would Mickey’s father, Wes (W. Earl Brown), be working with them, too, but, as he revealed upon joining them in Santos’ office, Eva is Mickey’s mother, whom they thought was dead!

Season 2 will “unpack” why that was the case, showrunner Matt Lopez told TV Insider after the finale.

There’s also the matter of how Mickey may or may not feel about Boone — and if he’s in a relationship when Season 2 begins.
