Max Thieriot & ‘Sheriff Country’ Boss Talk ‘Fire Country’ Medical Spinoff — Would Natalie Zea Star?
What To Know
- The creators of Fire Country and Sheriff Country are developing a third series set in Edgewater, this time focusing on a medical drama.
- Max Thieriot and Matt Lopez offer an update and reveal what excites them about the potential show.
The town of Edgewater could be going. A third show set in the same universe as Fire Country and Sheriff Country could be joining the lineup. This one would be a medical drama, with Fire Country and Sheriff Country co-creators Max Thieriot, Joan Rater, and Tony Phelan and Sheriff Country showrunner Matt Lopez developing it.
When TV Insider spoke with Thieriot about Fire‘s Season 4 finale, we asked for an update.
There’s “not too much I can share yet,” he told us. “I can say that we’re actively developing it all out, and me and Joan and Tony and Matt Lopez are sort of fleshing out all the story stuff daily. But I know we’re all really excited to hopefully get to bring to life the Fire and Sheriff version of what the medical world looks like in Edgewater.”
As for whether it could include Natalie Zea‘s doctor, Camille, whom we saw in action at the rodeo and in the middle of the devastating flood in the finale, “It could,” he said. “I cannot say for sure either way.”
Lopez echoed that it’s “very early stages” when we talked about the Sheriff Country Season 1 finale, but he’s excited about seeing what a medical drama in this universe would look like.
“The idea would be to expand the universe, to allow to continue building this fabric, this sort of seamless universe with characters across all three. And we think the medical show is a natural thing and a medical show in a small town also is something we haven’t seen a ton of these whenever, whether it’s Brilliant Minds or Chicago Med and The Pitt — these are all great shows, but they’re big cities,” he explained.
Lopez continued, “The challenge, and I think, the opportunity, is the same way that Mickey [Morena Baccarin] does law enforcement differently than any other cop on TV, how do the doctors and nurses of our hospital do medicine and heal patients differently? That’s something that’s really exciting. Again, it’s early stages, but we’re all really excited about it. And the idea would be characters and more than just Mickey — the show is being constructed in such a way that there are several, both Fire and Sheriff Country, characters that their storylines [are] baked in to cross with the medical show.”

I very very much want to see this show, particularly if it stars Natalie Zea. She has been a favorite of mine for a very long time.

S
I agree!I really like Natalie Zea...and I like her for love interest fo Manny.

G
I love Sheriff Country and Fire Country so yes id love a Medical one.

I like the idea. If NCIS can do it in all these different cities, it's going to be nice to focus on life in a small town. This gives more of a consistency in the stories where you can really get into the lives of familiar characters.

I think it would be great to add medical show I really like Sheriff Country and Fire Country….i live in a rural town and we have an excellent hospital and to see this might happen would be amazing
-
M
I would watch that show religiously
-
G
Bring back Gabriella as a paramedic!
-
J
Not very original....

I like Natalie Zea from LA BREA. They could call it Medical Country (maybe) As for Bode I would like to see Aubrey back. The blonde after Gabriella. Loved them together Aubrey and Bode. I do not care for Manny and Natalie's character together. I do not watch Sheriff's Country....Love Fire Country. BODE the BEST, and his Uncle

Not sure, came from medical ems background, work in medical field service and in my opinion, SC seems like it lies in a bigger town then I thought FC portrayed, so not sure how it would be. I do like both, but more so FC. Will be interesting how it develops.

SC is in a small town near where FC is based though in actuality, SC is shot in Eastern Canada while FC is shot in Western Canada (both supposed to be in a small part of rural California) ... SC shot in Eastern Canada so the star can commute back to her home in NYC easier on weekends..

It only looks big because of the acreage. It's still considered a small town in population.

I would love to see the small town medical show. I live in a small town and that would address how small towns handle health issues.

I really like Sheriff Country, but am not a fan of Fire Country - actually, I watched the first few episodes of FC and that was it for me. Sheriff Country brings a lot more to the screen and we, my family, friends and I, really enjoy the show and the actors. I am not in favor of an other spin-off. I feel like they are just trying to do a copy cat show to 'try' to be like the Chicago shows. Never happen.

M
I won't watch it just like I won't Sheriff country. I definitely don't like Natalie Zea If they're thinking about putting her in it. The writing on fire country is bad enough. Instead of making more shows they should concentrate on it.

Anything where there is a chance to see more Bode! Another set of great shows like chicago med and fire are what I look forward too.

I think a small-town medical show would fit in great! (I was actually thinking of this while watching the season finale!)
Of course the different shows would lean over into the others.
Can we get some 'new' interest loves for Bodie instead of bringing over his wife from Seal Team?
Can't wait to see what the medical series would look like in Edgewater!
-
S
I would like someone really great as a love interest for Bode as well. Maybe from the hospital? ( I do like Gabs & Chloe, but I want to leave Alona Tal's Stella with Clay from Seal Team). Gabs had her chance and blew it... Bode deserves the love of his life.
-
M
I like Chloe with Bode. He has had enough loss in his life for awhile. Let him be happy with Chloe and date her for a good amount of time. Her son also needs a good role model and a good man for that is the new man Bode is.

No, there are plenty of medical shows.
-
P
That would be fun.
-
E
Definitly need the medical show as a continance of the other 2 shows. If Chicago can do it then so can you guys.
-
T
Yes. Yes. A thousand times, YES. Make it so. Small town hospital challenges. Paramedics alongside Fire and Sheriff characters. More Natalie Zea, please. Go for it
-
J
I think you mean to say "growing" and not "going" in the very first sentence. Also I would rather see the M.E. side because I like her character much more
-
L
Long as her & Manny are not together on that Medical Spainoff of Fire Country
I do not like Natalie Zea or her character as Camille on Fire Country
-
G
While I would probably watch the show because I do like the other two, I would much rather watch something more original in its story line. Problem is that in this day and age, it’s a non starter
-
D
Yes we need more local shows to work in the British Columbia movie industry as Tracker has moved to California.
-
G
absolutely all 3 together wowzers what a combination!!
-
M
But what are they going to call it? Medical Country? Lol
-
K
100000000% yes please!
-
S
Sounds like a good idea!
