‘This Is Us’: 7 Predictions for ‘The Cabin’ Episode (PHOTOS)
Kate Continues to Worry About Toby
Kate’s (Chrissy Metz) already expressed a lack of faith in Toby’s (Chris Sullivan) commitment to being a good father to baby Jack. If that continues while she’s away, with constant check-ins and a need for updates, that could definitely backfire in the couple’s struggling marriage.
Toby Steps Up to the Plate
While the episode may be titled “The Cabin,” baby Jack will be hanging back with Toby which hopefully means we’ll see the father and son bond. After Kate called Toby out for his weak efforts, he could be stepping up to the plate in a big way while caring for the baby alone.
A Rift-Causing Time Capsule?
At the beginning of the promo, Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) and Rebecca (Mandy Moore) introduce a time capsule to the young Big 3. It’s almost a sure bet that the capsule will hold some major significance in the siblings’ journey, but could it be the cause of their future estrangement? We know from the flash-forward that Kevin (Justin Hartley) is not talking to Randall (Sterling K. Brown). Could something from the past trigger that?
Snowed-In Revelations
It’s snowy at the family cabin in the promo as the Big 3 dig up the Pearson time capsule. Perhaps the inclement weather will result in the trio being snowed-in, leaving them with time to reveal underlying issues and get on one another’s nerves.
Marc Goes Over the Edge
So far, all we know about Marc (Austin Abrams) and Kate’s cabin time is that something bad happens. In the promo, we see Marc lock Kate outside as he drinks beer and we can’t help but worry that their toxic relationship is about to get a lot worse. Here’s hoping Rebecca, Kevin (Logan Shroyer) and Randall (Niles Fitch) arrive and help her before it’s too late.
Randall & Kate Stay Strong
Randall (Lonnie Chavis) and Kate (Mackenzie Hancsicsak) are shown sitting together in a past timeline and standing next to each other in the present as they uncover the time capsule. Could this mean their relationship will remain intact in spite of Kevin’s obvious estrangement from Randall in the future? There are theories that Kevin and Randall’s fight has to do with Rebecca’s memory loss, but maybe Randall and Kate will bond over their shared knowledge about their mom?
Randall Spills All
Randall’s stress levels are through the roof following the break-in at his home. The normally level-headed Pearson is definitely less than stable right now, so with the added weight of Rebecca’s secret, it may all be too much. Will Randall’s stress cause him to accidentally reveal this information?

This Is Us returned February 11 to resolve some mysteries around Kate’s (Chrissy Metz) past, but it also left viewers with even more questions going into next week.
We’re still waiting for the conclusion to the drama of Marc (Austin Abrams) and Kate’s (Hannah Zeile) cabin getaway, as well as Toby (Chris Sullivan) dealing with his issues around son Jack’s blindness. And don’t forget we’re still waiting on what’s next for Kevin (Justin Hartley) — after his hookup with Madison — and Randall (Sterling K. Brown), who just had a breakdown after his home invasion.
Thankfully the promo for next week’s episode, titled “The Cabin,” appears to offer some answers with the Big 3 coming together at the family cabin for some reprieve from their hectic lives.
