‘The Mosquito Coast,’ ‘The Bad Batch’ & More Shows on the Rise in May
You probably have a sense of the biggest TV shows streaming right now, but what about the fastest-rising? For that data, we turn again to Parrot Analytics, which ranked the streaming titles with the biggest month-over-month gains in demand between April and May.
The company notes that the show topping the chart, The Mosquito Coast, steadily grew in demand each week, so it’s little wonder why Apple+ recently renewed the thriller for a second season.
Star Wars: The Bad Batch, meanwhile, likely got its stellar demand from its timing, since the debut season of the animated series hit Disney+ on Star Wars Day. (That’s May 4th, as in May the 4th be with you.)
One outlier among all the new series is StartUp, which ended its three-season run on Crackle in 2018. So what explains StartUp’s demand in May, more than two years after its end? You can thank Netflix, where the show started streaming on May 4.
