‘House of David’ Season 3 Enters Production
House of David fans just got good news: The Biblical journey of David (Michael Iskander) will continue to the bittersweet end.
Prime Video has announced the start of production for the third season of the Wonder Project series.
In a statement, executive producers Jon Erwin and Jon Gunn said, “We’re incredibly grateful to be back in Greece with the cast and crew who’ve given everything to this story. Season 3 brings us to the final season of this trilogy — the chapter of David’s life we set out to tell from the very beginning. We’re honored to finish it alongside our partners at Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios, and we hope audiences feel just how far David has come by the time his story reaches the throne.”
House of David Season 3 will pick up after the events of Season 2, which followed the aftermath of that success, including many battles with the Philistines in the reign of King Saul (Ari Suliman), and David’s rise to warrior and worth as the anointed.
There’s much more story yet to be told about the eventual first King of Israel, so here’s what we know about House of David Season 3 so far.
Has House of David been renewed for Season 3?
Yes! The series was renewed on July 10. Jon Erwin and Jon Gunn said in a statement, “We are incredibly grateful to fans around the world who have embraced House of David. Season 3 follows David through one of the most defining chapters of his life, and we’re honored to share this next chapter alongside our partners at Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios. Whether audiences have known David through Scripture or are encountering him from a fresh perspective, we hope the series continues to reveal why his story has resonated across generations.”
It’s little surprise the series will continue. Wonder Project previously released a new companion series, The Old Stories: Moses, from the same executive producers. Plus, The Chosen‘s last two seasons are still on the way — with Season 6 soon to premiere and Season 7 production having recently gotten underway — so the faith-based franchise is still very much thriving.
Who will star in House of David Season 3?
Michael Iskander will return to his role as David in House of David Season 3. We will also see the return of Ali Suliman as King Saul, Ayelet Zurer as Queen Ahinoam, Indy Lewis as Mychal, Ethan Kai as Jonathan, Yali Topol Margalith as Mirab, Davood Ghadami as Eliab, Alex Uloom as Achish, Louis Ferreira as Jesse, Sam Otto as Eshbaal, Oded Fehr as Abner, and Aury Alby as Joab.
What will happen in House of David Season 3?
The official description for Season 3 tells us, “In Season 3, David’s transformation from outcast shepherd to fierce warrior to chosen King is finally complete. But before the throne, there is exile. David is a hunted outlaw, forced to hide among his enemies and live yet another dangerous lie. This chapter explores the true cost of destiny — the betrayals endured, the identities shed, and the sacrifices demanded of a hero before he can rise to the throne.”
Previously, Gunn told TV Insider, “There’s always been a sense of the trilogy of David’s rise from shepherd to king. Season 1 was David the shepherd. Season 2 is David the warrior. Season 3 would be David the king, making his way to the throne.”
The official description for House of David Season 3 reads, “David’s journey comes full circle from outcast shepherd to fierce warrior, to his ultimate destiny as King. But before the throne, there is exile. David is a hunted outlaw, forced to hide among his enemies and live yet another dangerous lie. It’s done extremely well. Every episode had you wanting to see the next episode right away. The acting was great, the storyline was not to far departed from the biblical version. I binged watched it because it was so exciting and devastated to find there was not a season three. Then to hear it was only a maybe for the 3rd was horrible. I not only hope that there is a 3rd season, I also hope that the team of creators from this series would seriously consider writing series of other members of the Bible. You really brought it to life in a way that not only brought easy understanding but excitement that had you craving for more. Please don’t stop now. There is nothing more important than teaching the stories written for the world and done in such an amazing way.

The storyline is not bad, they took liberties and made a few changes, but otherwise it stayed on track. My biggest beef is the actor they chose for David. He was supposed to be a red head, instead they chose a man who looks like an Indian with black hair and dark skin.

I really enjoy it! It encourages me to explore the scripture more. I appreciate that it avoids nudity and sexual scenes, making it suitable for viewing and referencing the Bible during certain moments. My grandchildren often play 'Giant Slayer,' breaking stuff. May the Lord Jesus bless you with great favor. I am addicted to David. I adore all the characters.
