Theater-trained Tala Ashe (Zari, far left) preps a fight scene with Caity Lotz (team leader Sara) on the Waverider set. But Lotz embraces any chance to shoot outside the ship, saying, “The best part of filming on location is when I get to bring my dog on set.”

By reusing costumes from prior episodes, the show was able to stretch the battle-filled finale’s budget to include extra FX. “If you could be in those meetings,” marvels Klemmer. “It’s like, ‘You can have 50 centurions.’ So we say, ‘What if they don’t have helmets?’ and then we get 60!”

Keiynan Lonsdale (left), who swaps between The Flash and Legends as speedster Wally West (and has previously announced he is ending his series-regular status on both), shoots a green-screen bit with Arthur Darvill as Rip. “There’s so much camaraderie among our cast, no one gets dropped into the deep end alone,” executive producer Phil Klemmer notes.

Brandon Routh (here getting a touch-up under the sun) may play the team’s brainiest member, Ray (aka The Atom, a self-made hero with a homemade shrinking supersuit), but he’s also a trouper on set. “You really can’t [relax in the suit] and it is enormously heavy,” Klemmer says. “I have never heard him complain, though.” What a guy!

Have gun, will glare. Dominic Purcell “is intense,” says Klemmer, which makes the executive producer want to “get under the tender side” of troubled bad boy Mick Rory even more. Especially now that we know he pens romance novels under the nom de plume Rebecca Bloom. “I want to understand why!” Klemmer exclaims.

Adam Tsekhman (left), who plays Time Bureau agent Gary Green, is “an absolute gem to work with,” says Jes Macallan (who plays Gary’s boss, Ava), seen cracking up with Tsekhman and Matt Ryan (demonologist John Constantine). “His comedic timing is genius,” she adds.

Mamma mia! Good thing Maisie Richardson-Sellers (with onscreen beau Nick Zano, who plays Nate) kept Amaya’s time-loop look pristine. “I tried desperately to get the ABBA costumes [for the finale], but they didn’t make it in time,” Klemmer says with a laugh. “Next season!”
