Bill Maher and Roseanne Barr eviscerated the “insane” far left in a new interview — but then things got heated during a debate over the Democratic Party.
During a sit-down on The Rosanne Barr Podcast published on September 25, the Real Time With Bill Maher host, 70, and former Roseanne sitcom star, 73, discussed a wide range of topics.
When Maher declared that the “far left has gotten so insane,” Barr wholeheartedly agreed.
“They’re even more insane than you,” Maher added. “They’re just insane in a different way.”
To that, Barr said, “I just love that you’re talking about it directly. I get a thrill out of seeing you do it. Because you are getting more and more like me all the time. Although you deny it. Your views are evolving to where mine are that you called me crazy.”
Maher pushed back on that idea, explaining, “My views aren’t evolving at all. The Democratic Party evolved. They became the Democratic Socialist Party. I didn’t change at all. I’ve always believed in capitalism. The party now is full of socialists who are really communists. They’re not socialist.”
Later, Barr asked Maher if he thought “the Democrat [sic] Party can be fixed at this point,” prompting a sparring match over the wording of her question.
Maher corrected her by pointing out that it’s the “Democratic Party,” asking, “Why a pointless slur?”
“It’s not a slur,” she insisted. “They’re the Democrat Party.”
However, Maher reiterated, “It’s the Democratic Party. It’s like this dig that conservatives think they’re getting in. What a sick burn.”
Barr then exclaimed, “They’re anything but f***ing democratic! Let’s start there. So I’m not gonna say ‘Democratic.'” She explained, “Because a f***king corporation is anything but democratic.”
To that, Maher snarked, “As if the Republicans are. That’s hysterical.”
“But Republicans are about a republic, which we do have,” Barr replied.
“Well, Republicans no longer believe in conceding elections they lose,” Maher shot back. “So there’s nothing more undemocratic than that. He then added, of the 2020 presidential election, “Trump still hasn’t conceded that one.”
