Hulu's 'Catch-22': See George Clooney, Kyle Chandler & More in Action (PHOTOS)
It's not surprising that a literary classic like Catch-22 is getting the TV treatment with Hulu's upcoming six-part limited series. But its star-studded cast that really adds excitement to the new adaptation Joseph Heller's popular novel.
With names like George Clooney, Kyle Chandler, and Hugh Laurie, anticipation is at an all-time high for this series, and now, the streaming service has finally released a sneak peek! In the new photos, we get to see Clooney, Chandler, and Laurie alongside lead star Christopher Abbott, who TV fans will recognize from Girls and The Sinner.
With big success after adapting Margaret Atwood's novel, 'The Handmaid's Tale,' Hulu is looking to another iconic book.
The actors star in the story of "artful dodger" Yossarian (Abbott), a US Air Force bombardier in World War II who is struggling as the army keeps raising the number of flights needed to finish his service. And if he tries to skip out on his assignments, he'll violate the Catch-22 rule, which dictates concern for one's safety is considered rational. So, if he tries to fly dangerous missions he is considered insane, but if he asks to be removed from duty he's considered too rational to be removed.
And Kyle Chandler has taken over the lead role from George Clooney.
The all-star cast includes a plethora of other names among Abbot's Yossarian, Chandler's Colonel Cathcart, Clooney's Scheisskopf, and Laurie's Marjor de Coverley. Among those are: Giancarlo Giannini as Marcello, Daniel David Stewart as Milo, Rafi Gavron as Aarfy, Austin Stowell as Nately, Graham Patrick Martin as Orr, Gerran Howell as Kid Sampson, Jon Rudnitsky as McWatt, Kevin J. O'Connor as Korn, Pico Alexander as Clevinger, Tessa Ferrer as Nurse Duckett, Lewis Pullman as Major Major, Josh Bold as Dunbar, Jay Paulson as Chaplain and Julie Ann Emery as Marion.
The series is executive produced by George Clooney and Grant Heslov — both will also direct episodes — for Smokehouse Pictures, along with Richard Brown and Steve Golin on behalf off Anonymous Content. Luke Davies and David Michôd serve as the show's co-writers and executive producers.
