What Would’ve Happened Next on ‘Watson,’ ‘Gen V’ & Other Canceled Shows
Many TV shows didn’t make it out of the 2025–2026 TV season, and though we’ll never see them back on the small screen any time soon, we can at least get a sense of where subsequent seasons would have taken the plot. Cast members and creatives behind Watson, Gen V, and Duster talked to TV Insider about plans for those shows’ futures, for example, and we also have details on other TV casualties from this past season. Read it all below!
Watson
“In Season 3, Watson [Morris Chestnut] would also have been Sherlock’s [Robert Carlyle] doctor treating ongoing complications from the ailment that plagued Holmes at the end of Season 2,” showrunner Craig Sweeny told TV Insider. “The heart of Watson was the cases, so if we had come back, we would have continued to hunt the strange and amazing scientific outliers that made up our strongest episodes. Of course, medical fellowships last three years, so a major theme of Season 3 would have been exploring what would have happened to Ingrid [Eve Harlow], Stephens [Peter Mark Kendall], Adam [also Kendall], and Sasha [Inga Schlingmann] at the end of their fellowships and how many new doctors would be worked into the mix.”
Gen V
The cast members of Gen V gave us a hint of where Season 3 would have taken this spinoff of The Boys. For starters, Derek Luh told TV Insider the “door is, of course, open” for a romantic reunion between Jordan, the role they share with London Thor, and Marie, played by Jaz Sinclair, adding, “I don’t think going through what they’ve been through and loving someone like that just ends. I think it’s Jordan trying to figure out how to set their own boundaries and choose themselves first, and I think there needs to be a lot of healing, in Jordan in particular and Marie in particular, and maybe they’ll revisit it down the line, but I would love for them to have that door open still.”
Meanwhile, Polarity (Sean Patrick Thomas) likely would have taken over as dean at Godolkin University. “I think Polarity is very, very committed to making sure that no more children get hurt,” Thomas told us. “I think that he sat back and watched children get hurt in Season 1. In between Season 1 and 2, he let his own child get hurt because of his complicity in the system. And so I think as Season 2 ends, he’s determined that that will never, ever, ever happen again, and he’ll do whatever it takes to make sure that all of these children are kept safe.”
Duster
Keith David confirmed to TV Insider that Ezra Saxton, his character on Duster, definitely died in the Season 1 finale after being shot in the chest. But David thought Saxton would have nevertheless popped up in Season 2 as the show explored his role in faking the death of Joey, brother of Jim Ellis (Josh Holloway). “I think we would have seen more of him in flashback because we would have had to tell the story of the brother and what happened, how he came to his end, and what was that plan, which Ezra executed. So you would have had to see how Saxton wove that tale,” David told us.
Spartacus: House of Ashur
In an interview about the Spartacus: House of Ashur Season 1 finale, creator Steven S. DeKnight delved into the ramifications of Ashur (Nick Tarabay) killing Caesar (Jackson Gallagher). “He finally snaps at the end, and by killing Caesar, he’s really making that statement that he’s no longer concerned with the acceptance of the Romans,” DeKnight told us. “He’s now going to make the Romans bow to him, so it’s very much Ashur unleashed, leading into Season 2.”
He added, “For Ashur, the big thing is if this ever gets out that he killed Caesar, he’s a dead man. So he’s got to make sure that nobody ever finds out what he’s done. Now, of course, I highly suspect Cornelia [Jaime Slater] is going to be very suspicious about where her husband has disappeared to. So that’ll be a plot line we’ll be following.”
The end of Season 1 also saw the arrival of Servius (Adam Gardiner), brother of Gabinius (Andrew McFarlane). “It was such a fun character to write, to have this absolutely horrible person drop in as we set it up early on, talking about your brother, your brother’s just so horrible,” DeKnight said. “And just to have such a wonderful actor come in and nail that, where you instantly know who this guy is and instantly dislike him. We do a lot of fun things in Season 2 with Servius.”
Terminator Zero
Terminator Zero creator Mattson Tomlin revealed on X in February that Netflix had canceled the anime series. “I would’ve loved to deliver on the Future War I had planned in Seasons 2 and 3, but I’m also very happy with how it feels contained as is,” he said.
In another X post, he wrote, “Maybe someday I’ll do a big thread about the plans I had for the full five-season run. The series finale was special, and it was part of my pitch to get the job. I’ve written all of the Season 2 scripts and outlined pretty much all of Season 3.”
After one viewer asked if there was ever a plan to incorporate Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Terminator into the storyline, Tomlin said, “Sort of. If we got to Season 4, it was something that could’ve been explored in a way that didn’t hijack the balance of things, but it would’ve had to have been done just the right way. I never wanted the show to feel like it was leading to that. Had to feel awesome and not lame.”

I'm a little confused. Is Ashur having a season 2? I really enjoyed the storyline. It was exciting and different.
