Which Team Won ‘Battle on the Beach’ Season 5? Breaking Down the Wins
After seven weeks of intense competition, the winners of Battle on the Beach Season 5 have been revealed.
During the HGTV competition series’ Monday, July 13, finale, the teams wrapped up their renovations by transforming their homes’ exterior spaces. After the challenge, the teams were also given 48 hours and $5,000 to fix previously renovated spaces based on comments they received from the judges throughout the season.
While judges Tristyn and Kamohai Kalama viewed each of the completed houses, it was ultimately up to local real estate professionals to decide which home’s financial value improved the most. “They are so different, and they’re all so good, but I think this is the house that has constantly just come back into the forefront of my mind,” Tristyn said during her and Kamohai’s final judging.
Kamohai added, “I think that was the house that we were looking at. So, when we do put the data in there, it lines up exactly with what we thought.”
The series returned for its fifth outing on June 1, despite reports that the show had been canceled after Season 4. Set in South Carolina’s Grand Strand, the new episodes followed three teams as they transformed run-down beachside properties into stunning vacation homes. The team with the highest short-term rental rate took home bragging rights and a minimum cash prize of $50,000. Additionally, each week’s winning team chose between accepting $3,000 or adding $6,000 to the grand prize.
Ty Pennington returned as a mentor for the new season, alongside 100 Day Dream Home‘s Mika Kleinschmidt and Renovation Island‘s Sarah Baeumler, the latter of whom previously served as a judge on Battle on the Beach.

Winning the opening challenge (a bike race), Steven and Angelina made the smartest move -- picking the largest of the 3 houses to be their project house. Dividing its very long living room into a still spacious living room and a very nice additional bedroom was their mentor's, Sarah Baeumler's, suggestion -- and it won them the episode victory. (I didn't like Angelina's zig-zag molding art treatment of the walls of the stairway and upper hall, and I felt sad for Steven.)
