First Look at ‘The Goldbergs’ Tribute to ‘The Breakfast Club’
Don’t you…forget about them! The ’80s-set sitcom returns for Season 4 with a premiere inspired by one of the era’s most memorable flicks: The Breakfast Club.
When mom Beverly (Wendi McLendon-Covey)—now working at the high school—sentences the gang (above, from left: AJ Michalka, Troy Gentile, Sean Marquette and Sean Giambrone) to detention, they channel characters from the John Hughes film.

“Lainey is [Molly Ringwald’s] Claire, Barry is the jock and Adam is the geek,” says creator Adam Goldberg. And by the time the bell rings, adds Goldberg, “just like in the movie, the kids bond and get a greater understanding of each other.”

I'm 52. I have no idea what the breakfast club is. Never saw that or Ferris Beuller. Never had any desire to.

Don't feel bad. I steadfastly avoided Caddy Sh*t and Boastgusters.

Can't stand Three Stooges either.

I'll probably regret even replying, but...Not sure what being 52 has to do with anything. Have you ever heard of Alfred Hitchcock? John Ford? William Wyler? Steven Spielberg? You've never heard of John Hughes? Ever heard of (or seen) Home Alone? Pretty in Pink? Mr. Mom? Sixteen Candles? Planes, Trains and Automobiles? (You ever heard of Steve Martin or John Candy?) Uncle Buck? National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation? (Chevy Chase before your time too?) The live action version of "101 Dalmations" with Glenn Close as Cruella DeVille? John Hughes wrote and/or directed every one of them, amongst many others. I have no idea what it is you think you were "right" about. Do you even WATCH "The Goldbergs"? Because if not, I'm not sure what possessed you to take the time to even leave your original comment here. As for your other mentions - and to honor full disclosure: I'm not a big Caddyshack fan either. But the original Ghostbusters was pretty good (which I can't say for the remake). Airplane is very funny (I've actually met the Zucker Brothers - you ever hear of them?). So's the Addams Family - both the old TV series with John Astin and the movies as well. And I love The Stooges. Mostly Curly and Shemp. So n'yuk, n'yuk to you.
