Tamera Mowry-Housley on ‘Breaking the Mold’ in Hallmark’s ‘Christmas Comes Twice’
The holidays are magical…especially when astrophysicist Cheryl (Tamera Mowry-Housley) rides a carousel at her town’s Yuletide carnival and finds herself five years in the past! But time travel is only one of the Hallmark movie hallmarks we’ll see in Christmas Comes Twice….
A Driven Woman at a Crossroads
Cheryl is passionate about her field, just not her job reviewing grant applications. Mowry-Housley, who left The Real in July, says cohost Loni Love, an electrical engineer, taught her the importance of seeing more women in science, technology, engineering and math. “I wanted to break the mold of people’s perspective of women in STEM, who can have fashion and be romantics.”
Second Chances
Cheryl reconnects with her late science teacher, Ms. Nelson (Sheryl Lee Ralph), and two classmates: town mayor Terrence (Brendon Zub), whom Mowry-Housley describes as the guy her character “just knew she was supposed to be with,” and then-rival George (Michael Xavier), who now runs the science club. “It’s like you’re focusing so much on the wrong thing, you miss what’s right in front of you,” she hints.
Festive Activities
Expect some cookie-baking and, the actress adds, “a lot of snow strolls.”
