Doc & Darryl 30 for 30

Doc & Darryl (9/8c, ESPN): Two of baseball’s greatest, but most controversial, legends reunite in an intimate 30 for 30 documentary, produced by filmmaker Judd Apatow and Michael Bonfiglio (You Don’t Know Bo). Former Mets superstars Dwight “Doc” Gooden and Darryl Strawberry, among the most revered and feared pitchers and sluggers of their time, meet up in a diner in Queens to recall their 1980s glory days and the addictions that clouded their fame.

The President and the People: A National Conversation (8/7c, ABC, ESPN, Freeform, ABC News Digital, Freeform Digital, WATCH ABC, WatchESPN, Yahoo, ABC News on Facebook and YouTube channel, ABC Radio): Anchor David Muir moderates a town-hall discussion with President Obama on issues involving race, justice and policing in the wake of the shattering events of a week ago in Baton Rouge, Minneapolis and Dallas. The ABC News presentation will be simulcast on all Disney Media Networks platforms. The conversation continues with a special Nightline (12:35 am/11:35c) anchored by Bryan Pitts from Washington, D.C.

Thirteen (6/5c, BBC America): In the penultimate episode of this gripping British drama, the victim becomes a suspect when a body is discovered in an underground wall where Ivy (Jodie Comer) was held captive for 13 years. Arrested by the very detectives she thought were her allies, who now wonder if she has been obstructing justice, Ivy shuts down just when she needs to open up. And the kidnapper isn’t done with her yet.

Inside Thursday TV: Vanity, thy name is Booth (David Boreanaz). While the team on Fox’s Bones (8/7c) investigates a jewel theft that led to murder among French nobility, and Hodgins (TJ Thyne) is beset by a possible poltergeist in the lab, Booth frets that his bout of blurry vision could lead to wearing glasses and looking like a “squint.” … Community fans can geek out with series creator Dan Harmon by entering the world of HarmonQuest (premieres Thursday) on the Seeso streaming comedy channel. This “epic” mixes animation with live action as Harmon welcomes celebrity guests into a role-playing fantasy. … truTV’s Impractical Jokers stages a “British Invasion” in its midseason premiere (10/9c), with the pranksters making merry in London. An “Inside Jokes” edition follows (11/10c), giving pop-up factoids about fan-favorite episodes with behind-the-scenes anecdotes.
