USA Network Greenlights ‘Suits’ Spinoff Series With Gina Torres
USA Network announced on Thursday that it’s moving forward with the new Gina Torres-led Suits spinoff series.
The new drama will focus on Jessica Pearson (Torres) adjusting to life in Chicago and maneuvering through the dirty world of politics.
“Gina’s portrayal of Jessica Pearson as one of television’s strongest, most successful businesswomen has made a huge impact with fans,” said Chris McCumber, President, Entertainment Networks, NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment, in a press release. “We can’t wait to explore this next chapter in the Suits legacy – and a brand new world for Jessica.”

“It was an extraordinary pleasure working with Gina on Suits for six years. Beyond her undeniable talent, she is an incredible partner and collaborator, and I always hoped we would work together again,” said creator and executive producer Aaron Korsh.
In last year’s mid-season finale, Jessica left her role as managing partner at Pearson Specter Litt, one of New York Ciy’s top corporate law firms, to follow her heart to Chicago. She’s made several cameos since her departure and during the Season 7 finale (Weds, April 25) the Suits world will be introduced to her life in the Windy City.
Suits also revealed some other casting shakeups earlier this year. Patrick J. Adams, who plays Mike Ross, and Meghan Markle, who stars as lawyer Rachel Zane, will be exiting the series.
Katherine Heigl has been added to the cast as new firm partner, Samantha Wheeler, and Dulé Hill has been promoted to a series regular. He plays attorney Alex Williams.
