Supernatural, “Brother’s Keeper” (Wednesday, May 20, 9/8c, The CW)

Is this the episode that Cain kills his brother Abel? In the case of tonight’s season finale, will Dean (Jensen Ackles), the bearer of the horrific Mark of Cain, attempt to slay his little bro Sam (Jared Padalecki)?

With some exceptions, primarily the charming musical 200th episode “Fan Fiction,” the horror show’s 10th season has lived up to its genre. Lots of blood, the loss of appealing characters like the boy’s “little sister” Charlie Bradbury (Felicia Day), and the increasing violence of the branded Dean.

Tonight’s episode vibrates with the possibility of more spilled blood and maybe tears. Dean will make what the network calls “a shocking decision regarding the Mark of Cain” that will change both the brothers’ lives. Of course, in this show all about brotherly love, if there is to be fratricide, we’re sure it will be about sacrifice and one sibling trying to save the other. We know that Death (Julian Richings) will return, possibly at the behest of the desperate Sam. The Grim Reaper can remove the Mark, but we can be sure any deal he offers will be a terrible one for the Winchesters.

For comic relief, there could be some matricide. Neglected kid and King of Hell Crowley (Mark Sheppard) will finally gives his rotten witch mom Rowena (Ruth Connell) her just desserts. More worryingly, Castiel (Misha Collins) could get caught in the hellfire.
