Silicon Valley, “The Lady” (Sunday, May 3, 10/9c, HBO)

While the first season of HBO’s Silicon Valley was greeted with well-deserved critical acclaim, there was concern that the series about a male-dominated industry was not accurately portraying the role of women in tech. Tonight, creator Mike Judge and his team of writers address the issue as the Pied Piper team looks to expand the company. Founder Richard (Thomas Middleditch) finds himself in the middle of a debate with Erlich (T.J. Miller) over hiring a woman, while a worried Jared (Zach Woods) proposes a new workplace harassment policy. Meanwhile, techies Dinesh (Kumail Nanjiani) and Gilfoyle (Martin Starr) are troubled about another new employee they recommended for the position who might be demanding a higher salary. And Pied Piper’s biggest competition, Hooli, continue to attack the fledgling start-up by promoting Pied Piper’s ex-employee Big Head (Josh Brener).
