Diddy’ Combs are among the stars who have signed on to participate in NBC’s inaugural Red Nose Day, next month’s live three-hour entertainment event that promises to raise money for 12 charity organizations benefiting children in poverty.

Based on a long-running British event of the same name, the U.S. Red Nose Day will air Thursday, May 21 at 8/7c and will include comedy performances, videos from Funny or Die and musical performances.

Director/writer Richard Curtis (Notting Hill, Bridget Jones Diary, Love Actually) first created Red Nose Day 30 years ago. The annual U.K. event has raised more than $1 billion; this is the first U.S. edition.

Money is raised by fundraising events, donations, and the sale of red noses at Walgreens and Duane Reade drugstores.

Charities benefiting from this year’s efforts include Boys & Girls Clubs of America, charity: water, Children’s Health Fund, Feeding America, Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, the Global Fund, LIFT, National Council of La Raza, National Urban League, Oxfam America, Save the Children, and United Way.
