‘The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story’ to Debut Before Katrina Installment

In an unexpected announcement Tuesday evening, FX revealed The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story will be the second installment of the American Crime Story series. Katrina: American Crime Story was supposed to debut in 2018, but production has been pushed back to early next year.

The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story is tentatively slated to debut in early 2018. It stars Darren Criss as killer Andrew Cunanan, Edgar Ramirez as Gianni Versace, Penelope Cruz as Donatella Versace, and Ricky Martin as Versace’s partner Antonio D’Amico.

FX’s first installment of American Crime Story, The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story, received 22 Emmy Award nominations and won nine Emmy Awards in 2016.
