In the Company of Legends (Tuesday, April 7, 8/7c, TCM)

In the 1980s and 1990s, documentarians Joan Kramer and David Healey made several specials about Hollywood acting legends when many of those luminaries were still alive to be interviewed. This month, they’re releasing a memoir, In the Company of Legends— so TCM is celebrating with a five-film Kramer/Healey marathon. In James Stewart: A Wonderful Life (1987), Johnny Carson hosts a celebrity tribute to the leading man. The Spencer Tracy Legacy: A Tribute by Katharine Hepburn (1986) remembers the actor from the P.O.V of his longtime companion. Jane Fonda reminisces about her dad, Henry, in Fonda on Fonda (1992). Katharine Hepburn discusses her own career in Katharine Hepburn: All About Me (1993). Finally, in Bacall on Bogart, Lauren Bacall recalls her first husband, Humphrey Bogart. Tonight, you don’t have to look out the window to see stars.
