FX has renewed Legion for a second season, set to premiere in 2018. We can’t even imagine how many questions we’ll have about the zany Marvel-based show by then!

From creator Noah Hawley (also known for the network’s crime anthology Fargo), Legion stars Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey) as David Haller, a troubled mutant with extraordinary power, who believed he was schizophrenic his entire life. It also stars Rachel Keller (Fargo) as his loyal love interest Syd and Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation) as… well, we’re still not quite sure about what she is playing.

“The first season of Legion was a stunning achievement,” said FX Networks President Eric Schrier in a statement. “More than a new series, Legion is a wholly original take on the super hero genre. Our thanks to Noah Hawley for taking the creative risks and shattering expectations. It’s a privilege to work again with Noah, his producing partners, the outstanding cast and our partners at Marvel Television on another season of Legion.”

At the end of last week’s episode (spoilers ahead!) “Chapter 5,” we had seen the whole gang from mutant sanctuary Summerland as patients in David’s former mental hospital Clockworks, with Lenny (Plaza) as the doc in charge. Was everything up to that moment a dream? Is anything real? We’ll have to wait and see.
