What’s Worth Watching: The White Queen Conquers on Amazon

The White Queen (All episodes streaming now on Amazon Prime)
Starz’s Outlander will start the second half of its first season on April 4, but that doesn’t mean you have to go without British political intrigue until then. Most shows related to the War of the Roses and subsequent monarchs deal with the men on the front lines; The White Queen, adapted from Philippa Gregory’s book trilogy The Cousins’ War, takes the women of the period out of the background and delves into their lives and machinations. The series only lasted one season on Starz—co-producer BBC says that was always the plan—but the 13 episodes provide a welcome respite from the usual male-dominated Renaissance fare.
