Thursday’s episode of CBS’ new drama Training Day, “Wages of Sin,” led off its hour with a dedication to the show’s late star, Bill Paxton, who passed away last Saturday at age 61.

The show led in with about a 10-second, soundless, slow zoom-in to a black-and-white photo of Paxton, with a big smile on his face; a nice photo capturing the fun with which he seems to have approached most of his memorable roles. Next to the picture, the words: “In loving memory of our friend and colleague Bill Paxton 1955-2017.”

“Wages of Sin” was only the fifth episode aired so far of Training Day‘s 13-episode first season. Shooting on Season 1 was completed before Paxton’s passing, and while it is unclear at this point if CBS will continue the series without him, TMZ has reported that producers Will Beall and Barry Schindel have vowed not to recast Paxton’s role of maverick police detective Frank Rourke if the show does return.
