Jeopardy! fans are getting a Daily Double dose of nostalgia on Reddit, with two threads devoted to today’s six-year anniversary of Alex Trebek’s death.

“We lost the great Alex Trebek six years ago today,” user bluegambit875 wrote in the Jeopardy! subreddit this morning, sharing a headshot of the legendary quiz-show emcee.

“Felt like losing a loved one,” StatsOvertime added in the comments. “RIP.”

“Thank you for everything, Alex,” wrote Dragonpaddler.

“We [heart] you, Alex,” said IanGecko, a.k.a. former Jeopardy! contestant Ian Morrison, who competed on the show in 2025 and returned for the 2026 Champions Wildcard tournament.

In the other post, Reddit user iamdanielmcgee recapped that Trebek died at home in Los Angeles at 80 years old following a stage IV pancreatic cancer diagnosis — and that Sony Pictures Studios’ Stage 10 is now called the Alex Trebek Stage in the late host’s honor.

“Alex, you are forever in our hearts [and] always our inspiration to learn. May you continue to rest in peace,” iamdanielmcgee added. “And we will always hear the 3 legendary words from Johnny Gilbert himself: ‘This is Jeopardy!’”

lanad3lr3y_81 commented, “I remember being in the car with my mom, and she told me that he died. I was 12, and I was so sad. My sister and I watched every episode hosted by him left besides a couple, I think.”

And lanad3lr3y_81 added that they thought Trebek “would really like our current champion,” referring to current fan fave Betty Hume.

Trebek also got a posthumous tribute in the latest Jeopardy! Masters season. During one round of contestant Q&As, champion Victoria Groce revealed that one of her daughter’s friends saw a photo of Groce and Trebek side by side and thought Groce had met a U.S. president.
