Spoiler Alert
What To Know

- After the player on the chopping block won individual immunity, chaos ensued at camp and during a live tribal council.
- Jeff Probst reacts to the eliminated player’s “brutal blindside.”
The Survivor 51 tribes are officially merged into one. While they didn’t have to earn their spots in the merge like in the New Era, the Open Era players did have to earn their classic merge feast by competing in another Survivor classic: eating live grubs. The first 10 contestants to finish eating the two crawling critters would feast on much better food and drinks while the remaining three spent the night at the new merge tribe camp.
New alliances were made and old relationships ended when a live tribal council and a painful blindside took place at the end of the episode. Jeff Probst reacts to the elimination in his “Field Notes” from Survivor 51 Episode 7. Warning: Survivor 51 spoilers ahead!
In a way, the players who didn’t earn the merge feast had more of an advantage than those who did. Kristin Flickinger (who refused to eat the live bugs), Sharonda Cox, and Cristian Chavez had time alone to strategize, and Kristin had alone time with Sharonda to reveal her advantage and form an honest alliance. Honesty was a hot commodity after the first individual immunity challenge, which Mike Pinsky won.
Mike was the vote plan for the first merge vote, but his victory shifted the vote from him to Eric Macksoud, then Eric to Kristin, and then Kristin to Brady Booker. Pre-tribal deliberations were chaotic, with Mike warning Kristin about the threat against her and Kristin telling Brady, her friend, that she knew he was planning to vote for her. Brady had to pivot, and in that chaos, Jelly Loblack took the opportunity to shift the vote onto him.
A live tribal took place during tribal council, during which Eric and Brady’s names were the only ones discussed. There was constant whispered debating throughout the interviews with Probst, but the final choice wasn’t clear until the votes were read.
“I’m in a lot of trouble if this doesn’t go my way tonight,” Mike said to the camera as he voted for Brady.

There was a tie between Brady and Eric for the first eight votes, but then the count started to tip towards Brady. The wrestler was blindsided, and while he said nothing as he walked out of the set, the look in his eyes said everything. Brady was shocked and sad, and Probst called it “another brutal blindside” in his Field Notes, a filming diary shared on Instagram each week during Season 51.
“Being voted out always feels personal, even when it’s not,” Probst wrote. “Not a single word from Brady as he grabbed his torch. Brady made history not only for chopping off his thumb, but for the way in which he handled it — humorously and courageously.”
Probst’s casting notes about Brady said his audition tape was captivating enough to earn the label of “strongly consider based on the tape alone.”
His FaceTime audition was “fantastic” and a “100% home run,” Probst said. He noted that Brady “could come across as a jock but he knows that” and that he had a “big personality in the room,” adding, “He’s ready.”
Stay tuned tomorrow for our exit interview with Brady, where we’ll get an update on his thumb injury and more.
