“Drop your buffs, it’s time to merge” is the sentence every Survivor player hopes to hear. Good news for the Survivor 51 cast: The merge is here, and it’s happening in Episode 7, airing on Wednesday, November 4, at 8/7c on CBS. TV Insider has an exclusive sneak peek showing Jeff Probst delivering the merge news to the remaining castaways following Ori Jean-Charles’ elimination last week. And good news: It looks like a classic merge!

Here’s the logline for the episode, titled “The Girl at the Prom”: “It’s time to ‘Drop Your Buffs!’. The castaways face a daunting rite of passage that harkens all the way back to season one. Then, chaos ensues as the group mingles and navigates old alliances and new promises while battling for the first individual immunity necklace of the season.”

In Survivor‘s new Open Era, any twist from any time in Survivor history could come back. Given that, fans have wondered whether they’re going to see a classic merge from the older seasons or the New Era style of having to earn a spot in the merged tribe. Probst teases the merge in the exclusive clip above.

“Do you feel like you are birthing the first season of the Open Era?” Probst asks the players, who respond with resounding yeses. “This idea that in any given season anything can happen.”

“We’re going to continue that today with something very traditional, something so traditional, it touches every era of Survivor,” Probst says, making Kristin Flickinger fear the worst. But her “oh no” might have been said too soon.

“Everybody, drop your buffs, you are merged!” Probst tells the cast. Queue the celebrations.

Buffs are kicked, kissed, and thrown away as Probst throws the new bag of Survivor buffs to the group. It seems that this is, in fact, a classic merge, based on the clip and photos of all the 13 remaining players wearing new blue buffs (above).

Find out what happens after the buffs are dropped in Survivor Season 51 Episode 7 on CBS.
