‘The Voice’: What Is Cut Week? Season 30’s Major Elimination Addition, Explained
The Voice is returning to its roots for Season 30, which means there’s an emphasis being put on the upcoming Live Shows. In order to make room for six weeks of live episodes, and to make up for the schedule change that puts the show on just once a week for most of the season, there will be no Knockout Rounds this fall.
Instead, The Voice will introduce the brand new Cut Week, and the stakes have never been higher. Scroll down to learn more about the new addition and where it falls into the schedule for the remainder of the season.
What is Cut Week on The Voice Season 30?
Cut Week is the biggest elimination to ever take place in one week on The Voice. In total, 15 singers will be eliminated during Cut Week.
Following the Battle Rounds, coaches Kelly Clarkson, Riley Green, Adam Levine, and Queen Latifah each have seven artists on their team. Based on the performances they’ve seen so far, they’ll each pick two to automatically bring to the Live Shows. The other five on each team will have to perform for the final spot.
After seeing the Cut Week performances, each coach will select one more artist to keep on their teams. One additional artist will be saved by the public, so one coach will head into Live Shows with four contestants and the other three will have three.
When is Cut Week on The Voice Season 30?
Cut Week will air during the Monday, November 2, episode. This episode will also mark the start of the show switching to its new time slot: 9/8c to 11/10c.
When are the Live Shows on The Voice Season 30?
The Live Shows begin on Monday, November 9. There will be Live Shows on November 9, November 16, November 23, November 30, December 7 (Semifinals), and December 14 (Finale), all in the 9/8c to 11/10c time slot.
This season, the eliminations will be revealed on the same night as the performances, rather than during a results show the following day. “It’s real-time voting,” executive producer Audrey Morrissey told TV Insider. “So, everybody performs, and we find out that night who’s moving on.”
