What To Know

  • Jay-Z has been officially announced as the headliner for the Apple Music Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show on February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium.
  • Fans and media are speculating about potential guest appearances, with Beyoncé, Rihanna, Alicia Keys, and even Blue Ivy Carter.
  • The announcement has generated significant hype online, with the event expected to be a major cultural moment.

After months of speculation—including an early scoop from Puck News—it’s official: Jay-Z is stepping out from behind the Roc Nation producer curtain to headline the Apple Music Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show.

The NFL, Apple Music, and Roc Nation announced that the 56-year-old hip-hop mogul will perform during football’s biggest night on February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium. The news broke with a 15-second video on social media with the caption “GOAT’s out of the bag,” featuring his classic anthem “Public Service Announcement (Interlude).”

“For several years, we’ve had the privilege of working closely with JAŸ-Z and Roc Nation, and I’ve seen the extraordinary impact he has had on the Super Bowl Halftime Show,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement. “When we first reached an agreement with Roc Nation to produce the show, I had just one request: that JAŸ-Z take the stage himself one day, whenever the moment felt right to him. I couldn’t be more excited for fans around the world to experience the artistry, creativity and cultural impact he will bring to the Super Bowl stage.”

Having spent years shaping the league’s shows as a partner, the 25-time Grammy Award winner is finally taking the stage himself. But now that the music veteran is locked in for the halftime show, the conversation has naturally evolved to who he might bring out with him with many outlets like CBS Sports and fans on social media already making predictions.

Given Jay-Z’s star-studded guest list during his recent Reasonable Doubt anniversary celebration runs at Yankee Stadium and SoFi Stadium, there’s plenty of hip-hop and pop royalty who could show up.

Of course, topping the list of potential honorable guests is his wife, Beyoncé. In fact, one of the top comments on a r/popheads subreddit community post about Jay-Z performing the halftime show is, “Well… hope Beyoncé shows up,” while another user commented: “So Beyoncé gets a third Superbowl show?”

The fellow global pop star is no stranger to the NFL stage, having headlined previously in 2013, co-headlined in 2016 along with artists like Coldplay and Bruno Mars, and performed during Netflix’s 2024 Christmas Day halftime show in Houston. With a catalog of joint hits like “Crazy in Love” and “Drunk in Love,” the married couple would have a list of tracks to pick from as their duet.

Some even think the halftime show might be a whole family affair that would feature Blue Ivy Carter. The teenager previously stole the spotlight having performed with her mother during her recent stadium tours and even played the piano during some of Jay-Z’s shows, making her a high possibility.

Another possibility is Rihanna. The musician-turned-beauty entrepreneur has a long history with Jay-Z having been discovered by him at Def Jam and later signed to Roc Nation early in her career. The “Umbrella” singer performed during the 2023 Super Bowl Halftime Show and surprised fans during one of his shows during his Yankee Stadium run.

Other stars who have recently shared the stage with Jay-Z include Eminem, Alicia Keys, and Snoop Dogg. Someone else on Reddit wrote, “I feel like he needs to bring out Beyoncé obviously, maybe even Rihanna, Alicia Keys? So many of his biggest hits are collabs!”

Some fans have even shouted out that Ye, formerly Kanye West, could be a guest though a reunion between the former Watch the Throne collaborators remains a long shot given the two’s reported estrangement and Ye’s ongoing controversies.

With Jay-Z’s deep ties in the music and entertainment industry, anyone could easily join him. A user on Reddit even joked on the same r/popheads subreddit thread: “The streets are saying that his special guests will include a sasquatch, Godzilla, King Kong, the Loch Ness monster, a goblin, a ghoul, and some sort of zombie with no conscience.”

Someone else said: “Okay can we please somehow sneak Miley in to do Party in the USA and then “and the Jay Z song was on” is perfect…”

The news also comes after a hoax went viral earlier in the month after a fake screenshot from the official Apple Music account circulated on social media with the silhouette of woman, with many claiming that the music streaming platform had accidentally revealed the halftime performer, and some believing it was either Miley Cyrus or Beyoncé.

With just a few months to go until kickoff, the announcement of Jay-Z performing is already breaking the internet and is clearly shaping up to be a massive cultural event heading into the new year.

Super Bowl LXI airs Sunday, February 14, 2027, and will broadcast on ESPN and ABC, as well as stream on the ESPN App, NFL+, and Disney+.
