Ex-Fox News Star Janice Dean Slams ‘Former Friend’ Megyn Kelly Amid MS Battle
What To Know
- Janice Dean slammed Megyn Kelly for making “disgusting” comments about Christina Applegate’s MS misdiagnosis.
- The former Fox News meteorologist accused Kelly of using her platform to put others down.
- Dean, who has lived with MS for over 20 years, recently retired from Fox News due to her symptoms.
Former Fox News meteorologist Janice Dean has had enough of Megyn Kelly putting others down on her SiriusXM show and is now speaking out against her former friend and colleague.
“I’ve kept my mouth shut for a long time about #meangirl @megynkelly,” Dean wrote on X last week. “She used to be one of my closest friends and then she ghosted me after she endorsed @andrewcuomo for mayor and I told her she broke my heart.”
Dean specifically took issue with comments Kelly made about Christina Applegate on a recent episode of The Megyn Kelly Show. Applegate announced last week that she had been misdiagnosed with MS (multiple sclerosis) and is “back at square one” trying to figure out the reason behind her physical ailments.
“She’s crying now because I guess she no longer gets to be the face of this disease, and as she says, she’s back to ‘square one.’ She’s made like a cottage industry of talking about her MS,” Kelly said about Applegate on her show.

She used to be one of my closest friends and then she ghosted me after she endorsed @andrewcuomo for mayor and I told her she broke my heart. Her comments about @1capplegate are disgusting. Having #MS for over 20 years, she knows how long it took for doctors to diagnose me. I think Christina is brave for telling the truth and I’m grateful she became a voice for so many of us. I will have much more to say about this when I’m well enough. I’ve been sick for several weeks in and out of the hospital but when I’m well enough I will comment more. https://t.co/INdc1kIaCh

Dean, who retired from Fox News in July after 22 years due to her own MS symptoms, blasted Kelly’s comments as “disgusting.”
“Having #MS for over 20 years, [Kelly] knows how long it took for doctors to diagnose me,” Dean wrote. “I think Christina is brave for telling the truth and I’m grateful she became a voice for so many of us.”
The famous weathercaster said he’d have “much more to say” when she’s well enough, adding, “I’ve been sick for several weeks in and out of the hospital but when I’m well enough I will comment more.”
Dean opened up further in an interview with Page Six over the weekend, saying she is “sick of [Kelly] using her platform to put people down… She goes to the lowest denominator and constantly puts women down.”
“[MS] is a very misunderstood disease. We have no cure. It saps you of everything when you’re not feeling well. It took my job away from me,” she told the outlet. “I want to say more in defense of the people who put their reputations on the line, and their body of work, to say, ‘I’m vulnerable and I’m sick’… It’s the loneliest place you can be – to hear [Applegate] cry and have Megyn Kelly use that against her is disgusting.”
Kelly has yet to respond to Dean’s comments; however, former Fox News commentator Eric Bolling did reply to Dean’s initial tweet.
“Janice, I worked with both of you at Fox. I saw firsthand how Megyn backed you and helped elevate your career. Watching you publicly trash her and now slap ‘#meangirl’ on it is f***ing disgraceful… You should be ashamed of this,” Bolling wrote.
Dean responded to Bolling’s post, writing, “Why was he fired from Fox?”

Bolling departed Fox News in 2017 following a probe into whether he sent inappropriate text messages to colleagues. He denied the accusations.
“I’ve heard stories about this guy for many years. Bolling being the guy to come to her rescue is not the superhero you want,” Dean told Page Six.
As for her final thoughts on the situation, Dean said she believes Kelly’s mean-girl mentality comes from not having “any close friends.” She explained, “She’s secluded herself to live in Connecticut, and doesn’t get out into the world. It’s very isolating and she doesn’t have someone pulling her in to check her.”
Dean added, “I don’t want to go down the road she’s gone down. I don’t want to fight in the gutter, but I do want to raise awareness.”
