‘NCIS’ Star Katrina Law Teases Team ‘Disruption’ With Torres’ CIA Job

Katrina Law gets to be both Special Agent Jessica Knight and proud mom in an upcoming NCIS episode. Her daughter, Kinley Andreen, makes her acting debut in the November 10 episode, which heavily features her character, and the star couldn’t wait to brag about it when she stopped by TV Insider’s office.

“It is my favorite episode of television that I’ve ever done,” Law says in the video interview above. “It is my favorite acting gig, hands down, the most beautiful experience, and it’s because I get to act across from my seven-year-old daughter, Kinley. She plays a little girl named Chloe Sims who witnesses a crime and my daughter happens to speak fluent Mandarin and she knocks it out of the park and getting to interact with her, it’s pretty amazing. It was just beautiful. Going from Jessica Knight to proud mama, even within the confines of the scene itself, was just mind blowing for me.”

The latest episode of NCIS showed a protective Knight when it came to her partner, Torres (Wilmer Valderrama), defending the work he’s doing now with the team when his former undercover handler Keller (Mike O’Malley) scoffed at it.

“It’s her brother,” Law explains. “Jess watches him struggle on a daily basis with some of his demons and she knows the work that he’s put into himself and how much he has changed over the years. I think it’s really hard for her to see somebody from his past try to pigeonhole him into one characteristic of who he is and was and basically saying that you have no other aspect and this is your true identity. I don’t think that rings true for Torres, and it definitely doesn’t ring true for Knight. I think she would definitely go to the mats for him.”

The episode did show just how far Torres went while undercover years ago (torture), so how far would Knight go? Law says that her character “has a hard line” — except when it comes to her loved ones.

So how is Knight going to feel about her partner taking Keller’s CIA side job offer?

“I think it will be fun and possibly cause a little disruption amongst the team about how and why Torres would [take it without talking to them],” Law admits. “And not necessarily that he would do it because he’s been asking for it, but how much of his dark past starts to come up because he’s back in that world again.”

Looking ahead, Law is hoping for more Knight and Tony (Michael Weatherly) scenes. “For some reason, the two of them really mesh, and I love that he’s back on the show,” she says.
