Orange Is the New Black star Natasha Lyonne caused a stir on Tuesday (October 20) after a series of tweets that some fans took as support of President Donald Trump and his administration.

In the first post, Lyonne retweeted a clip of Vice President JD Vance smearing a protester at a Republican campaign rally in Hendersonville, North Carolina. The video showed a man shouting about the Epstein files before being escorted away. Vance then made a quip implying the protester illegally crossed the border.

“Sketchy mofo—prefer Trump—this s*** is even scarier—don’t really know how we arrived at this aesthetic as baseline normal, but c’est la dominoes, etc,” Lyonne wrote alongside the clip. “Octavia Butler was a soothsayer. Grimey times.”

Her followers were confused by her “prefer Trump” statement and took to the comments to let her know. “Prefer trump? Girl what the f*** are you smoking?” wrote one X user.

“Are you joking? This is a joke right?” said another. “Why would anyone prefer anyone who helped cover the #epsteinfiles supported friends of #epstein and trashed the survivors and tanked the global economy? No. You’re a fraud.”

“WTF does “prefer Trump” mean?” another added.

Some defended Lyonne, including one user who wrote, “She doesn’t support Trump omg, she thinks JD Vance is worse. Can people on this app be normal for like five minutes cos this is crazy, I feel like I’m going insane. Is everyone okay?”

Another said, “Wow y’all are dumb. How TF are y’all reading this like she actually likes trump.”

Lyonne herself responded to one commenter who wrote “Prefer Trump?”, replying, “To insert Manchurian Candidate here?”

However, the Russian Doll star continued to draw attention when she later reposted Trump’s comments about Tesla CEO Elon Musk. This came after the tech billionaire announced his plan to gift one share of SpaceX stock to every child in the United States.

“A BIG THANK YOU to our legendary friend, @ElonMusk, for his incredible generosity in giving SpaceX Stock to millions of American children through TRUMP ACCOUNTS!” Trump wrote. “This is exactly what was envisioned when we created TRUMP ACCOUNTS… Thank you Elon!”

Lyonne reposted the comments with four emojis: a rocket, a salute, the sun, and a face wearing sunglasses. Some commenters took this as an endorsement of Trump and Musk.

“You’re too cool to believe this stupid s***,” one fan wrote, per The Daily Beast.

“Damn, it sucks to see someone you like publicly reveal themselves to be a complete self-oblivious idiot,” said another. “Welp, you’ve lost a fan.”

“Please tell me this means you want to launch them into the sun and watch?” another added.

Another wrote, “She’s not MAGA. This has to be sarcasm. Pls clarify, Queen.”

Lyonne later deleted the tweet and kept going back and forth with fans throughout Tuesday night. After one X user wrote, “So is Natasha Lyonne MAGA now or am I misreading her posts?,” Lyonne responded, “not maga.”

Earlier this year, the Poker Face actress announced that she’d relapsed in a series of since-deleted social media posts. In one X post, she wrote, “Took my relapse public more to come.”

She returned months later to say she was doing better, writing, “Proud to report this kid is doing a whole lot better & back on her feet. Want to thank our recovery communities & the fans who stood by & were so supportive.”
