HGTV’s Joanna Gaines Dances With Her Sister in Hilarious Video – Fans React

Joanna Gaines danced off a bad high school memory with her younger sister, Mikey McCall.

“This dance goes out to all those who didn’t make the squad. Last night we tried our best to remember THAT dance,” Gaines captioned a Sunday, October 18, Instagram video of herself and Mikey giggling as they busted a move to “Yeah!” by Usher.

“It was 1994, I was going into my junior year of high school. My sister, Mikey, was a freshman. We had just rolled into a new town, new school, and we heard that the cheerleading tryouts were in a week,” Joanna recalled. “We tried our best to learn the chants and the dance routine. On tryout day, we both stood in line and waited to be ushered in — we did the cheer, fumbled through the dance, and then waited two hours outside to see if our names made the list, annnnd they didn’t.”

Joanna dedicated the clip to “all of the kids out there who didn’t make the squad, or the team, or get the part, or the job, or the second date,” adding, “I get what the sting of rejection feels like, and I promise one day, you will be able to relive that moment and laugh (or even dance) your way through it.”

Fans reacted to the pair’s funny dance video and Joanna’s inspirational message in the post’s comments. “Great post!! Got kicked out of every dance class as a kid. Didn’t make the squad in HS, but ended up teaching 100’s of women Zumba for almost 15 years in my 30’s and still get asked to come back and teach at 50,” one user wrote.

Another said, “From the video, I would have thought they were completely different try outs #Aforeffort.” Someone else shared, “This is great…. Ya’ll should make a sweatshirt/tshirt “Magnolia Squad team” and then have everyone recreate their dance move and make it viral! Love this!!! PS. Ya’ll got the moves.”

A different person posted, “Your squad is so much better. They really missed out!” A separate commenter gushed, “If unbothered and joyful was a dance. LOVE TO SEE IT!”

Earlier this month, the Magnolia Network star shared another video of herself and Mikey dancing with a friend while chaperoning a school dance at the Silos at Magnolia in Waco, Texas. “Moms at the school dance be like… #chaperones,” Joanna captioned the October 8 Instagram clip.

In the video, the sisters and their friend showed off their moves while dancing to songs such as “Love Story” by Taylor Swift, “Call Me Maybe” by Carly Rae Jepsen, and “Golden” by Huntrix from KPop Demon Hunters. The video ended on a fun note, as the trio broke into a kickline as “What Makes You Beautiful” by One Direction played in the background.

“Girls did you get into the gummies again?” one person commented underneath the post. Joanna’s husband, Chip Gaines, reacted to the comment with a laughing face emoji. Another commenter added, “Mikey is giving 90’s boy band let’s get her to LV sphere with BSB.” Someone else said, “Next up dancing with the stars.”
