Joanna Gaines made the most of being a school dance chaperone.
The Magnolia Network star shares five kids — Drake, Ella, Duke, Emmie, and crew — with her husband, Chip Gaines. In a Thursday, October 8, Instagram post, Joanna revealed that she recently chaperoned one of her kids’ school dances held at her and Chip’s Silos at Magnolia in Waco, Texas. While the event was for students, Joanna and her friend busted their own moves on the dance floor.
“Moms at the school dance be like… #chaperones,” Joanna captioned the hilarious clip, which featured herself, her sister Mikey, and a friend dancing along to songs such as “Love Story” by Taylor Swift, “Call Me Maybe” by Carly Rae Jepsen, and “Golden” by Huntrix from KPop Demon Hunters. The video ended with the trio giggling as they did a kickline to “What Makes You Beautiful” by One Direction.
Fans couldn’t get enough of the funny clip in the post’s comments. “Girls, did you get into the gummies again?” one user joked, and Chip replied with a laughing-face emoji. Another added, “Mikey is giving 90’s boy band let’s get her to LV sphere with BSB.”
Someone else quipped, “I’d join that PTA.” A different person posted, “Next up dancing with the stars.” A separate commenter stated, “I’d happily join you guys haha that looks so fun.”
Joanna didn’t specify which of her kids’ school dances she was chaperoning. However, it could be for her son Duke, as she recently revealed on Instagram that her second-oldest son celebrated his final high school homecoming.

“Homecoming ’26! Senior year for my Dukeman. #16,” she wrote over a clip of Duke after his homecoming football game on Saturday, October 3. “Feeling all the feels.”
In the post’s comments, one fan remarked, “I can’t believe Duke is a senior! I have watched Fixer Upper from the very beginning when all the kids were little. Ya” ll have done a great job raising your kids!” Another said, “He’s a senior already! It seems like yesterday they were all little kids on Fixer Upper.” Someone else wrote, “This is bittersweet. I’m a huge fan & still watch your shows & use them as my background noise for things. Duke is still little in my head!”
Joanna and Chip recently celebrated another of their kids’ school milestones when they sent Drake and Ella off to their senior and sophomore years of college, respectively, in August. “To all the parents sending their kids off to college… I know that feeling all too well,” Joanna wrote in an August 16 Instagram post. “Holding on a little tighter before letting go. Feeling proud of who they’re becoming and wishing time would slow down. But there’s nothing more fulfilling than watching your kids grow beyond you. I’m feeling it with you.”
In the post’s caption, Joanna added, “Thinking of all the parents sending their kids off to college this season. I’ve been on that side of move-in day, so I know the wide range of emotions well. As hard as that goodbye is, there’s nothing more fulfilling than watching your kid grow beyond you —it’s one of the greatest gifts of being a parent. May you find joy, comfort, and gratitude in the letting go.”
