‘Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage’: Will Mary Play a Bigger Role? Boss Reveals Season 3 Plan

Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage Season 3 kicked off with plenty of family drama in the premiere episode, and it appears that it will continue in the latest installment, “A Serious Journalist and Your Brain on Drugs.”

In the episode, Mandy’s (Emily Osment) work dinner goes off the rails when Georgie (Montana Jordan) becomes distracted by a surprise encounter, which appears to be his mother, Mary (Zoe Perry), as she dines out with his nemesis Fagenbacher (Matt Letscher). Meanwhile, Audrey (Rachel Bay Jones) and Jim (Will Sasso) struggle to navigate their relationship with Connor (Dougie Baldwin) after his recent arrest.

The question that looms is whether or not Mary is going to be playing a more regular role in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage moving forward, with two back-to-back episodes to kick off Season 3. “We don’t have the whole season arced out, so it’s hard to say,” executive producer Steve Holland tells TV Insider. “She was a pretty big presence last season. I think it would probably be similar to that.”

“We love her,” Holland continues, adding, “Zoe’s so terrific in the role, and it just makes so much sense in a lot of these stories that Georgie’s mom falls into it. I would say, at the same time, we want to keep the focus on our core cast and our core characters.”

Considering Fagenbacher is a total thorn in Georgie’s side, his proximity to Mary would certainly keep her in the mix. But as Holland notes, he wants to temper expectations, clarifying, “She’s probably in about as much as last season, which is a fair amount.”

In other words, Mary is hanging around for Season 3 of the Young Sheldon spinoff, and she will not be the only one from the original show to appear as Raegan Revord is also poised to return as Georgie’s sister, Missy.
